SDA will host a TS/SCI-level industry presentation ahead of the anticipated Tranche 2 Transport Layer (T2TL) Gamma solicitation. The industry days will be held Feb. 7-8, 2024 beginning at 9 a.m. ET in Chantilly, Virginia. The presentations will focus on the anticipated T2TL Gamma Other Transaction (OT) solicitation for payload development for space systems to provide fire control solutions. Under the T2TL Gamma solicitation, SDA expects to procure approximately twenty (20) space vehicles carrying the Warlock payload to demonstrate an operational capability for proliferation in future tranches. The draft solicitation released on December 4, 2023, is for the development, manufacture, testing, and launch integration of Warlock payloads and deployment of space vehicles and mission-enabling ground systems. A final solicitation will be forthcoming after the industry day events. Industry day registration is open now and closes January 30th. Millennium Space Systems Secures $414M Deal for FOO Fighter Initiative __________________________________________________________________ The Space Development Agency is building a system to track and destroy dangerous missiles, especially hypersonic ones that are very fast and hard to detect. Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company has received a $414 million contract to build eight special satellites equipped with advanced sensors. These satellites will work together to spot and follow missiles from space. This project, called FOO Fighter, is like a big experiment to see if they can use satellites to guide weapons that can destroy these missiles before they reach their targets. The goal is to launch this prototype system by 2026. Broadly speaking, fire-control systems integrate different technologies, including radar and other detection sensors, targeting computers, and long-range weaponry, into a unified system. This system is designed to identify potential threats or targets and guide weapons or defensive measures against them. It is anticipated that a network of such satellites would have the capability to spot and monitor hypersonic missiles and then guide interceptor missiles to neutralize them.
