Help Us Shape the Future of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Learning 🧑⚕️ We are actively collaborating with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) on their review of nursing and midwifery practice learning. As we know, today’s students are tomorrow’s professionals at the heart of health and social care, so your input is crucial in shaping the education and training they receive. What is practice learning?💭 As part of their education, alongside their academic studies, nursing and midwifery students undertake practice learning opportunities (placements) in different settings. This is especially important within rare disease communities. These placements give students opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, professional behaviours, and experience they need to deliver safe, kind, and effective care when they qualify. Students actively participate in their education, learning from various people, including health and social care professionals and the public, across different health and care environments. To ensure that practice learning prepares students effectively, we’d love to hear your thoughts on two important questions: 1. What would give you the most confidence in receiving care from students and fully qualified nursing and midwifery professionals? 2. What sort of things would you expect practice learning to cover? Feel free to think creatively and ‘outside of the box’. Your feedback will directly inform our work with the NMC and help shape the future of nursing and midwifery education. Thank you for being a part of this important conversation! The long awaited journal for nursing is here
It all begins with a thought, followed by determination to achieve your goal, no matter how big, scary, or daunting the process may be. Eventually, there comes a day when you can look back and say, "Yes, we finally made it." With that in mind, I am proud to present the most significant achievement within the nursing and midwifery profession in Malawi - The first ever nursing and midwifery journal. This journey that dates as far back as November 2022. I extend my deepest gratitude and congratulations to my team at NONM for this achievement. Dr A. Muula and Genesis Chorwe-Sungani word would fail me to express the volume of support you have given towards this initiative and how I wish the whole ocean waters were ink ...enough to allow me express the magnitude of support you have given this far. Many thanks to my coach and tutors from Centre for Executive Training and Development (CeTAD) at Lancaster University Juliet McDonnell Dr Jo Greenwood Debbie Simpson who also played a critical role in this project that culminated from an action research project conducted during my study at the University as a Commonwealth Scholar.#2022#Cohort# Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK #Nurses #HaveWon #WeMoveForward #ServeHumanity#NursingMidwifery#Healthrelated#Research#

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is making strides to better support internationally educated nursing and midwifery professionals in the UK through the newly launched International Nursing and Midwifery Association (INMA) forum. This forum offers a platform for international associations representing these professionals to collaborate closely with the NMC. Together, they will address pressing issues faced by overseas practitioners, such as racism and discrimination. Through this initiative, the NMC aims to tackle issues such as racism and discrimination, creating a safe, inclusive environment where all professionals can thrive and provide high-quality care to the public. It's a promising move toward a healthcare system that values and backs the diverse backgrounds and contributions of its professionals. Plus, with ongoing dialogue between the NMC and healthcare professionals, there's room for a truly inclusive healthcare environment.
