We're adding another 2,100 electric vans to our fleet over the next year as part of our plans to achieve Net-Zero carbon emissions by 2040. We already have the largest electric delivery fleet in the UK with around 5,000 vans, and the new additions will increase the total by almost half in just one year, bringing it to 7,100. The new electric vehicles, which will be the first of our famous red vans to include the new King’s cruciform and livery, will be rolled out from August across the UK. We plan for more than half to be on the streets in time for the Christmas shopping period, helping to provide greener deliveries during the busiest time of the year. Most of the vans will be charged on-site at Royal Mail’s delivery offices via a purchased 100% renewable electricity supply meaning they will be zero-emission. When all 2,100 new electric vans are in use, they are expected to reduce Royal Mail’s total emissions by around 6,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. When a delivery office is changed over to electric vans, will their old vans be distributed to other offices. As in East Anglia we are running hire vans because as ours wear out they are not replaced.
Sounds great! It would be good to understand the make and models you will be using, and also your typical daily mileage per van. Royal Mail can you share this please?
Great News and being a driver of one of our existing electric vans I think they do a brilliant job and once the manufacturers can increase the range of the batteries (which they will) it is a win win solution for all companies and private individuals and amazing how far they have come in such a short period of time.👍🥇
Great news Riyal Mail. Brilliant job. And not a single one of them at the Chelmsford DO or Sorting Office. Not even talk of getting electric vans in Chelmsford. Still driving around in 58 plate Vauxhall Combo Diesel. Be proud Royal Mail, very proud. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. 😎
Way to go Royal Mail! It’s exciting to see you leading the way with the adoption of electric vans in your fleet, and we look forward to continuing to follow your net zero journey. Congratulations from all of us at Allstar!
It’s nice to drive around serving our customers knowing we are protecting the environment at the same time-win win in my humble opinion !! 🥇🥇🥇
These are great vans to drive and deliver from thanks 👍🏽
What about delivery offices that don't have the space for on-site charging?
Inspiring and for many to follow !
Royal Mail when will the new Royal cipher be included in branding?
