This World Water Day, we're proud to showcase our commitment to sustainable water management. Through our holistic approach embracing Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repurpose strategies, we've achieved a remarkable 10% reduction in specific water consumption across our facilities. Harnessing natural resources, our rainwater harvesting systems collected a staggering 16 million litres at our Hosur plant alone in 2023-24, supporting both industrial and domestic needs. Additionally, with a focus on smart wastewater management, an impressive 74% of wastewater is recycled across our facilities, furthering our dedication to responsible resource stewardship. At our Nalagarh plant, innovative solutions have led to zero fresh water usage for toilet flushing, repurposing RO plant rejects and saving a significant 12,000 litres of water daily.   Beyond our operations, @Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), the social arm of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Limited, has been instrumental in driving water conservation efforts in communities. With investments exceeding ₹22 crores, SST has undertaken 369 desilting projects, expanding water storage capacity by over 150 crore litres and benefiting villages in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Collaborating with partners like NABARD, SST has implemented over 145 water projects in regions like Javadhu hills and Thally, significantly enhancing water retention and agricultural resilience while also addressing community needs like access to clean water in places like Venkatagiri, Tirupati District, Andhra Pradesh, transforming lives and fostering sustainability. Excited to share our initiative, #RamBhoomiSwachhBhoomi, implementing the Deposit Refund System (DRS) in Ayodhya to tackle plastic waste post the historic inauguration of Ram Mandir on Jan 22, 2024. With lakhs visiting, keeping the area around Ram Mandir clean was paramount. Ayodhya Nagar Nigam and The Kabadiwala joined hands to make Ayodhya litter-free. Saryu Ghat and Ram Mandir are now plastic-regulated zones. Every plastic item bears a QR code, with consumers paying an extra Rs 5 deposit reclaimable at The Kabadiwala refund centers. This initiative establishes 30+ refund centers, employing 100+ locals, including 50+ from the waste picker community. Ensuring cleaner village surroundings with sustainable greywater management in Gujarat’s Kutch district. Facing challenges with greywater management, Bharasar village in Kutch District, Gujarat built a wastewater treatment plant with DEWATS technology. The technology effectively treated around 200 KLD of wastewater generated by 624 households of the village. The DEWATS technology, using natural bacteria and plants, proved to be an efficient, affordable and sustainable solution for treating wastewater. As a result, stagnant water and overflow of wastewater onto village paths were eliminated, contributing to visual cleanliness in the village. The first Asher Waste Disintegration Unit. A zero landfill solution sets foot at Margosatubig Regional Hospital Zamboanga del Sur! Margosatubig Regional Hospital is a DOH hospital and was made the Covid 19 Treatment Facility for Region IX. The unit is expected to disintegrate healthcare waste piled up during the pandemic. There are no DENR accredited Treatment Facility for healthcare and infectious waste in the whole of Mindanao. Healthcare waste is being transported to other places for treatment which is not only dangerous but very costly. It has been said that 82% of the cost of managing waste in general is allocated to logistics (transport / hauling). What Asher does is to do away with all that. Happy to share my latest working paper on "Making State Circular Economy Parks Work for Indian States (Part 2): An Economic Analysis Using the ICRIER’s Sampada WSUT Model", co-authored with Dr. Amrita Goldar, Ms. Ritika V., and Mr. Kartik Nair. The analysis assess the economic and employment impacts of establishing an Integrated Resource Recovery Park (IRRP) in the state of Rajasthan, using the ICRIER Sampada Waste Supply-Use Table (WSUT) model. The model provides a comprehensive view of Rajasthan’s economy and waste flows in the form of a 47 by 47 matrix, which includes thirty-seven intermediate sectors, four waste treatment technologies and six waste types. The results highlighted potential annual gains of INR 169.48 crores from treating 2.68 lakhs MTPA of waste, or 5.5% of the total waste treated in the state, and significant job creation, advocating for similar sustainable projects nationwide.
