Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia has revealed plans for the world's first gaming and esports district, aiming to make Saudi Arabia a prominent player in the growing esports industry. The district, supported by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's initiatives, will have four venues for esports events, attracting around 10 million visitors each year. The Gaming & Esports District will feature gaming-themed apartments, hotels, and a large entertainment area spanning 100,000 square meters. It is designed to engage and inspire people of all ages, from professional esports players to casual gamers. The district will have four arenas with a total seating capacity of 73,000, including one of the world's largest esports stadiums with 5,300 seats and the largest indoor LED screen in esports. Covering over 500,000 square meters, the hub will provide space for esports clubs, training facilities, and headquarters for leading video game development companies. Saudi Arabia’s contribution to the phenomenal growth of the global Esports sector is highlighted by a study showing that 23.5 million gaming enthusiasts - 67% of population - currently live in the Kingdom. The recent Esports World Cup in Riyadh featured the largest prize pool in history, $60 million, and the country is now home to almost 1,000 players pursuing Esports as full-time careers, says the report by the Saudi Esports Federation, in collaboration with PwC Middle East. According to the report, worldwide revenue generated from Esports is expected to reach US $1.86 billion by 2025, nearly doubling the US$996 million revenue generated in 2020. The number of gamers in the MENA region, estimated at almost 68 million in 2022, is projected to grow to around 87 million by 2026, with rampant mobile and digital penetration leading to the growth. #gaming #esports #SaudiArabia

Exciting news for the gaming industry in Saudi Arabia! The #HPGamingGarage lab has been unveiled in Riyadh, in collaboration with the Saudi Electronic University and AMD. This new experiential space is designed to prepare students for careers in the Media, ICT, and Esports industry by offering them a chance to explore and develop skills in Esports Management and Game Development. With Saudi Arabia's aim to become a leading global hub for gaming and esports by 2030, over 35,000 jobs will be created, contributing $13.3bn to the nation's economy. HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar, Chairman of Saudi Esports Federation, has also stated that Saudi Arabia aims to have 250 gaming companies by 2030 and to create more than 30 game titles that are among the top 300 globally by 2031.
