Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donated to the walk and San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center, Inc. Your support throughout this journey helped me get through the moments where I wasn’t sure I could finish. Thank you so much! -- Day 7 Miles Walked: 17.7 miles We did it! We arrived in Santiago de Compostela after a long day of 17.7 miles! Both Tim and I were very emotional as we stood in front of the Cathedral, with all the other “peregrinos” who finally made it to the end. To accomplish this walk after over 40 years of wanting to do it plus all the months of training and falling down yesterday, I cried when I realized I’d done what I’d set out to do so many years ago. I’m so happy and grateful to have made it and to have achieved my goal. Thank you so much to everyone for following and supporting me along the way and for following me on this journey. Making My Mental Wellness UK was inspired by the work the SWLSTG Recovery college provided, then SUTTON MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION CHARITY COMPANY, but I didnt realise at the time, how many direct messages I would receive for help. Monday night was the night which made the work Im doing worth while, when I received a message from a man, stating he felt he was a failure, and wanted to end his life. First reaction was, I dont want to say something which would enforce his belief, but to signpost him to PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide. After talking for a while via messenger, ok. talking may suggest it was a conversation, all my questions and prompts were met with 1 or 2 word answers, after about an hour, he asked for details of Papryus, this was late Monday Night. Tuesday lunch time, I got a message from him, just 3 words. Im still here. What if I hadnt created the website, the facebook groups, what if people didnt belive in what I was doing and didnt donate to fund the website, what would have happened to this man... All I can say is, the feeling that all the work I have put in to this business since Sep 23, is all worth the effort, as this person is still with us, and to thank everybody who has donated as with out their help, the site wouldnt exist. #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #spotlightonhope #recoverycollegeonline #rco #recovery #mentalhealth #wellbeing #mentalhealthandwellbeing #wellbeingmatters #mentalhealthmatters #positivementalhealth #itsgoodtotalk #onlinelearning #elarning #onlinecourses #wellbeingcourses #onlineeducation #mentalhealthawareness #backtouni #university #highereducation #fundraising #Mymentalwellness.uk

Men’s Mental Health Week 2024 This week is Men’s Mental Health Week and as you will be aware, our charity partner for 2024/25 is Tough To Talk, a pioneering charity dedicated to breaking the silence around male suicide and promoting mental health awareness. Founded on the principle that every man should have access to support when he needs it most, we are committed to changing lives and making a difference. In the spirit of raising awareness, Tough To Talk have compiled some tough facts to show how the work they do is vital and unfortunately necessary: - The construction industry loses 4 men a day to suicide in England alone - Suicide is the number one preventable cause of death for men in the UK under 50 - 10 men die by suicide every day in England and Wales (The statistics for Scotland are higher) - Most men who die by suicide are not known to have problems by family, friends or mental health services At Tough To Talk, they believe that knowledge is not only power – it’s lifesaving. They’re committed to providing accessible, impactful content that educates, inspires and empowers individuals to take charge of their mental health and support others. Their content is designed to break down barriers, challenge stigmas and provide essential information that can save lives. If you, or someone you know, are struggling, have a look at Tough To Talk’s website for advice and guidance on managing mental health and getting the required level of support here - https://lnkd.in/esX3v8Wy If you, or someone else, require immediate support call 999 or go straight to A&E if you can. Alternatively, call the Crisis Response Service (Mental Health) on 111 (08454647 for Wales). Atkins Search are actively fundraising to support this incredible charity and their cause, if you can please consider interacting with our fundraising link – with your help, we can make a difference - https://gofund.me/f6d740fe #ToughToTalk #MensMentalHealthWeek #ManUp #BreakTheSilence #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention #Charity #Partnership Steve Whittle Tough To Talk https://lnkd.in/eGNaGRzZ

(Human) BEing & curious lifelong, lifewide, lifedeep learner 🌱 simply exploring how YOU/I/WE (MWe) may ALL flourish (BE-ing well) TOGETHER; one heart-centred imperfectly perfect conversation at a time.
Hello LinkedIn friends, can I ask for your help and support please? As part of my journey researching why so many of us are not flourishing in life and in education in particular over the last ten years, I have come across many who are indeed not flourishing and some who are suffering from mental ill-health. I have seen first hand the devastating effect of the unraveling that can happen as a result. It is well documented that men usually find it more challenging to share when they are struggling. Ben Akers a film maker and founder of Talk Club, a UK male mental health charity helping men to improve their mental health or as they prefer to call it mental fitness because. Their talking groups actively help men to understand how they’re feeling by asking ‘How are you? Out of 10?’ then explaining why. You can watch Ben's TED talk and story: https://lnkd.in/epuE_ExD and listen to our imperfectly perfect conversation on the Flourishing Education podcast here: https://lnkd.in/eUvYegRc On 22nd September I am going to help raise funds for Talk Club by jumping out of a plane to save lives: https://lnkd.in/ezMgd-4j This is where I need your precious help and to see if we can leverage the amazing power that LinkedIn can be. Here's what you can do to support: 💞If you are materially healthy and can donate money, I would like to invite you to follow the link below and to support us financially. Anything helps so even if you can only spare £1/€1/$1, we would be most grateful. That's less than what we normally pay for a cup of coffee and it would help Talk Club create more groups, potentially beyond the UK and thus help save more lives. 💬 if you cannot help financially I completely get it. Many of us are finding it hard to put food on the table or pay the bills. So if that is you, you could still help us by perhaps repost and sharing with your own network and connections? In 2024, I believe that no-one should ever feel that ending their lives is the only option - #timeforchange Thanks so much in advance, friends. I really appreciate you and any help you may be able to provide for this very worthy cause. Let's Make a Difference Together This September! 🌟 At The SureFact Group, we're taking a stand for mental well-being—a cause that’s deeply intertwined with the work we do every day. For every referral we receive this September, we'll be donating $5.00 to the incredible R U OK? charity. Why R U OK? Mental health is more than just a priority for us—it's a commitment. The simple act of asking "Are you OK?" can be a lifeline for those struggling in silence. We believe in creating environments where these conversations can happen openly and without judgment. Let’s join hands and make sure everyone around us knows that their mental well-being matters. #TheSureFactGroup #RUOK #RUOKAustralia #MentalHealthMatters #SureFactCares #SupportAndServe #MakeADifference #SeptemberInitiative #CompanyInitiative
