The Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) is an ancient pilgrimage that started in the 9th century in Spain and became popular throughout Europe. Today, thousands of individuals make the trek for many personal reasons. Thelma will walk the Portuguese route, starting at the border between Portugal and Spain and walking north to Santiago de Compostela. How can you support Thelma? Sponsor her walk. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donated to the walk and San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center, Inc. Your support throughout this journey helped me get through the moments where I wasn’t sure I could finish. Thank you so much! -- Day 7 Miles Walked: 17.7 miles We did it! We arrived in Santiago de Compostela after a long day of 17.7 miles! Both Tim and I were very emotional as we stood in front of the Cathedral, with all the other “peregrinos” who finally made it to the end. To accomplish this walk after over 40 years of wanting to do it plus all the months of training and falling down yesterday, I cried when I realized I’d done what I’d set out to do so many years ago. I’m so happy and grateful to have made it and to have achieved my goal. Thank you so much to everyone for following and supporting me along the way and for following me on this journey.
