🚀 Applications for Cohort V of the Innovators Club, our FREE 10-week network accelerator programme, are open NOW! Since launching in 2020, we've run one Innovators Club programme each year, welcoming a total of 20 life science start-ups across four cohorts. We're incredibly proud of the outstanding progress our Innovators Club alumni have gone on to achieve with just some of many highlights including: ⚡ Phycobloom and Phase Biolabs being selected to join the Breakthrough Energy Fellowship, with backing from Bill Gates 🤝 CC Bio being acquired by Precisio Biotix Therapeutics 🐶 Zonova being selected to join Zoetis' Veterinary Health Innovation Engine 🏆 Countless national and international awards and recognitions 💸 One stat we love to share is that our alumni have collectively raised over £62m in equity funding once they completed their respective programmes. A huge testament to the meaningful innovations each of our companies are developing from revolutionising human health to solving the climate crisis and everything in between. 👩🔬 We're also very proud of the fact that 45% of our alumni companies are women-led with at least one female founder or co-founder. 🔎 We're now on the lookout for the next cohort of stellar early-stage life science innovators. Could this be you? ⏰ Applications for Cohort V close on August 2nd! What a great turnout at the London Biotechnology Show last week! I had some fantastic discussions with founders, consultants, and communicators about how important it is to build your audience early, and why the view of marketing within the wider biotech industry needs to change. Also, some brilliant insights from expert speakers across biotech below! #LBS24 #biotech #startups #marketing
Thank you to everyone who stopped by at the London Biotechnology Show and said hi! Here’s some of our highlights from the show 👇 📊 When fundraising, do the analysis that investors are looking for such as size of the market, route to market, and how much funding you need to raise. Don’t be tempted to raise more money than you can offer a ROI on and develop a plan that matches the investment you require – Rebecca Todd 🔗 80% of patient data is generated within the first few weeks of a CAR-T trial. Managing that data correctly and efficiently is crucial when monitoring patients for extended periods of time (e.g., during paediatric or neurology trials) to meet regulatory requirements that evolve over time – Matt Simmons ☁️ Winning organisations have reproducible pipelines and processes that are streamlined for data management, can harness insights from that data, and move quickly to work on problems that arise. This agility is made possible by effectively utilised cloud computing – in the cloud you don’t need to wait for IT to solve problem – Colby T. Ford 💊 The nutraceutical industry is shaped by consumer trends rather than innovative practices. The current buzzword in industry is ‘science backed’, and terms like ‘absorption’ and ‘bioavailability’ have seeped into consumer culture leading to exaggerated claims not backed by robust studies. There should be a pharmaceutical level of rigor in the nutraceuticals industry so it can gain the credibility that it currently lacks – Prof M. Gulrez Zariwala 🧩 Marketing remains an add on that companies approach at the point of selling a product or service, instead of a core piece of the puzzle when starting up a business. This view is substantiated by many thought leaders and organisations within the biotech sector. Communicators find themselves continuously needing to educate stakeholders about the importance of building an audience before selling to them. The first ever LBS hosted a range of sessions covering many areas of biotech, a start-up showcase platforming innovative new businesses, and a variety of exhibitors (including yours truly). It was a brilliant event to launch the updated Scrappy Marketing for Life Science Start-ups. You can download Scrappy Marketing 2024 for free 👉https://lnkd.in/ei6NbnT2 Lastly, thanks to the organisers for putting on a great event! We look forward to LBS25! #LBS #biotech #lifesciencemarketing #startups

MassBioDrive harnesses the power of MassBio’s global life sciences network to help new founders launch their biotech startups. We announced our #MassBioDrive Fall 2024 Cohort last month, and are highlighting our five emerging biotech companies chosen to participate. Today, please meet Lybra Bio! Q: Tell us about your company and what you’re developing. What are you most excited about? A: At Lybra Bio, we are transforming the treatment landscape of those suffering from Autoimmune Skin Diseases. We use regulatory T cell (Treg) biology to support the restoration of immune balance within the skin. By tapping into the body’s inherent capacity to promote immune equilibrium, our technology is crafted to not only relieve symptoms but also target the root cause of immune dysregulation. This approach is made possible with our innovative microneedle technology, offering unprecedented precision in treatment. Q: What advice do you have for other biotech companies just getting started? A: My biggest advice is to have someone on your team who’s all-in and truly believes in your vision (your internal champion). They’ll help push your company forward. Then, surround yourself with experts who bring fresh perspectives and can guide you through the tricky parts of biotech. Q: What has been most impactful or surprising to you since joining the MassBioDrive program? A: The most impactful thing for me has been the incredible commitment and support from the mentors—they go above and beyond what you’d expect from a typical accelerator. It’s really helped me make tangible progress for my company, and that’s been both surprising and invaluable. #TvashtrBiotech is celebrating its #first anniversary of being incorporated! It's been a year filled with challenges, triumphs, and unwavering dedication to our mission: Revolutionizing healthcare. Here's what we have learned from our endeavors until now: #TeamisEverything: The crude importance of a team is to be understood very delicately, as it is important for the team members to stay motivated, passionate, and dedicated. #EffectiveCommunication: Clear and open communication is vital within the team. #WorkEtiquette: It is rudimentary to understand the team dynamics when the startup becomes a double-edged sword when the Founders are close friends. #ContinuousLearning: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements. #LegalandIntellectualPropertyProtection: Safeguard your intellectual property and understand the legal landscape for future procedures and smooth operations. #ResilienceIsKey: The journey from having an idea to bringing it to an execution level is filled with obstacles, and developing resilience is a crucial factor for overcoming challenges. #FundingandFinancialManagement: Securing grants, budgeting, and financial planning are very sensitive matters, as they require a thorough understanding of the status quo of the startup and the vision to formulate it into a strategy. From project to startup, we have dedicated ourselves to the ultimate goal. Our collaboration with INUP- i2i IIT Bombay has been instrumental in pushing the boundaries of research. We are grateful to Nageswari Kolammal ma'am, Dr. Bikash Dev Choudhury sir, and their team. We're excited to announce that our MVP development is in progress, with a focus on rapid testing solutions. Our flagship products, a Rapid Allergy Testing kit and an Alzheimer's Progression Tracker, are poised to transform patient care. From being blinded in formulating the next step to restructuring the founding team, from applying to conferences to being invited as speakers, the relentless demands of research have been a formidable journey. The unwavering support of our mentors, Prof. Manas Mandal, Prof. Veeky Baths, and Mayur Jartarkar sir, along with the guidance of BGIIES, especially Tarun KrishnaKumar sir and mridula goel Ma'am, and NSRCEL have been our guiding light. Our team is still a core group of passionate individuals coming together under a single name to contribute to science and people, but is enough to make an impact. The journey has just begun, and we're excited to contribute to the scientific community and serve the people.
