In recent years, with the onset of climate change, climate refugees have emerged as a critically vulnerable group and are forced to deal with large-scale displacement as well as loss of land, livelihoods, and lives. As a multidimensional crisis, the issue of climate refugees needs holistic and collective action, right from integrating a climate lens in disaster preparedness to reducing the risks of climate disasters through robust action plans. #ClimateChange #ClimateRefugees #ClimateCrisis #EnvironmentalJustice #DisasterPreparedness #SustainableFuture

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency #ClimateResilienceFund The Climate Resilience Fund aims to ensure that forcibly displaced people fleeing or living in climate-vulnerable countries are protected from and resilient to the impacts of climate change. ⛈ You have already heard about the emergency situation in #EastAfrica on the news: after a long period of drought, the region is now experiencing extreme rainfall that is leading to devastating floods - and the situation is getting worse by the day. ⛈ 300 people have already died in the floods and more than 3.1 million people are suffering from the dramatic consequences: Agricultural land has been flooded, resulting in the loss of farmland and crops. Houses have been destroyed, roads have become impassable - countless families have lost everything and are now in urgent need of help! ⛈ The #UNHCR is already on the ground and is providing blankets, sleeping mats, water canisters, mosquito nets and other vital relief supplies for those affected. People now need emergency aid packages and safe accommodation to survive this difficult situation. ⛈ The heavy rains in East Africa have triggered a humanitarian crisis that people cannot cope with on their own. Donate now for our emergency aid through the UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe, the German partner of the #UNHCR, and show your solidarity with those affected by the flood disaster. https://lnkd.in/eC_7grF4 ⛈

The plight of climate refugees is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of the climate crisis. As temperatures rise, extreme weather events become more frequent, and sea levels continue to climb, communities around the world are being uprooted from their homes, becoming climate refugees. Our CEO, Mariana 💚 Castaño Cano, addressed this urgent issue in a thought-provoking interview on the TV program En Primera Plana , RFI. She highlighted the pressing need for strong action to prevent further displacement and protect vulnerable communities from the ravages of climate change. In line with our commitment to climate action, I urge you to read our article on the subject: "Strong Action Urged to Prevent More Climate Refugees." https://lnkd.in/diDJXqKC The time to act is now. Together, we must raise awareness, advocate for policy change, and implement sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change and safeguard the future of our planet. #ClimateRefugees #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EnvironmentalAwareness #ClimateCrisis #ProtectOurPlanet

The plight of over 100 million displaced people globally is a stark reminder of the challenges many face, from conflict to climate change. The partnerships formed by organizations like World Vision are instrumental in providing essential support—shelter, food, healthcare, and more—to those who have lost their homes. The detailed breakdown of displacement crises, especially in Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Venezuela, South Sudan, and Myanmar, sheds light on the urgent needs in these regions. It's heartening to see World Vision's commitment to long-term solutions, from emergency aid to psychosocial support and education.
There are over 100 million displaced people in the world, which is only expected to rise due to recent violent conflicts, climate change, and economic insecurity. Read an analysis from World Vision USA on the top places that refugees have been forced to flee and how their staff have been able to help, now on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gJRBhf_P

It's happening so fast along our coastlines in PNG, such a sad sight. We need more awareness and information on the available resources to help mitigate the effects of climate change. Our coastlines have rapidly been washed away by raising sea levels, washing away our culture and history.. We need to take action! I recently headed out to Awasa Retreat at Busamang village with Davina Ilumpui, along the Morobe coastline and I was captured by the glittering white sandy beach, to been caught up in a feeling of awe from the exposure to negative ion from the magnificent Bula Falls. But I was taken back by the loss of the coastline and villages. I was in tears, yet people are not aware of the effects of climate change as many villagers said "the Ocean takes and gives back to us". Davina Ilumpui & Robinson Vanoh are teaming up and using nature-based solutions -Vetiver Grass as a baseline & support for the beach. What are you doing to save our home, our planet ? Or would you like to see the firsthand effects of climate change along the Morobe coastline? This experience will definitely have an impact on your perspective in life so message me and let's head out to Busamang for a lifechanging experience. Let's talk, share information and help our communities to be climate resilient. Nambis Meri, presim like baten , em taim blo action! #sdgs2030 #bluepacific #climateaction #climatecrisis #climateresilience #pngnews #lossanddamage #climatefinance

Climate change will not be felt instantly, but is gaining momentum over the past decade. The world is moving fast and we are drifted off to notice variations in our environment. Papua New Guinea is a land of Gold floating on a sea of oil; however, not much has been done to prevent, conserve and sustain our environment and its natural resources. We are so worrying about money that we are putting our motherland on the line, and the benefits are pitiable. Our lands are eroding from the coastal to the Higlands and nothing has been done. My father once told me " failing to prepare is preparing to fail", and I really believed that. If we fail to prepare for climatic impacts, we will spend substantial amount of money to fix it when it is faced. Eagle Vetiver System Limited is bioengineering company that provides green solution for sustainable development that specializes in soil stabilization and erosion control using Vetiver grass. It has been tested and proven in various parts in the world, including PNG.
