I've been reflecting on a recent conversation between Walmart's CEO, Doug McMillon, and CPO, Donna Morris, two words Doug pointed out have been resounding in my mind - "opportunity" and "service". Doug described these as his guiding principle for the year ahead and the essence of Walmart respectively. As I've pondered these words, I've recognized their profound intersection: the opportunity to serve others. This concept, though not new, is a vital component of our roles as servant leaders. As such, we should strive to embody this ethos and seize every chance to serve. This week's Well-Being Wednesday post is inspired by this theme - finding fulfillment through service to others. As you know, the act of service is beautifully cyclical - as we extend our hands in kindness, we invariably find kindness extended towards us. So, this week, I encourage you to go the extra mile with your service through volunteer work. Volunteering often peaks during the holidays, leaving many organizations in need during the rest of the year. Consider lending your time, resources, or skills to one such organization. The impact you make will be deeply rewarding for both you and the beneficiaries of your service. If you can involve your team in your volunteer efforts, even better (#SparkGood at #TeamWalmart)! Together, we can create a ripple of service that extends far beyond our immediate sphere, reinforcing our commitment to seize every opportunity to serve. Need to find the right organization for you to volunteer? Check out https://lnkd.in/g4asaD-G #WellBeingWednesday #SparkKindess #Service #EraOfKindness #Opportunity #ServantLeaders

CEO of the highest-rated social impact platform on G2 - Groundswell | Executive Chairman at Team Rubicon
Not-so-humble-brag-alert. G2 has released its spring reports for Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Volunteering platforms and Groundswell cleaned up like Taylor Swift at the Grammys. This recognition belongs to our amazing product, engineering, and customer success teams who wake up every day thinking about our three promises: to delight admins, drive engagement, and deliver impact. It's who we are, and it's definitely what we do. Of course, it's easier to get on top than to stay on top. That's why our product roadmap in Q3 is laser focused on continuously improving our platform. Let me know if you want to walk through a no-pressure demo. I'd love to show you what we're doing, regardless of whether you're in the market. If nothing else I'll learn what else we could do to make your life better. #LFGroundswell #CSR #socialimpact #corporatesocialresponsibility #philanthropy #engagement #volunteering

#iiGivesBack: We’re really proud of the work our staff does at the firm - but even more proud of the long list of organizations they volunteer their time to! And, ii offers paid volunteer hours each month to help further support staff giving back to our community. Today’s featured organization: Bread Line Inc. ii Staff Volunteer: Lisa "The Bread Line, whose mission is “feeding people & affirming lives,” is an anti-hunger organization in Fairbanks. The Stone Soup Cafe is open M-F mornings, regardless of weather, and serves amazing, hearty, and nutritious hot meals, snacks, coffee, tea, and sack lunches. But it is so much more. It is a warm, dry place for those living without shelter, it is a place to take a shower, get toiletries and clothes (when available), and be treated with dignity and a smile. I started volunteering by baking cookies for the guests then began volunteering to serve meals on Wednesday mornings over two years ago. The people–those who work and volunteer there and the guests for whom we provide food and services–are why I keep going back each week. I’ve gotten to know many of the regular guests and enjoy catching up with them; I miss them when I have to skip a week. I started volunteering during the pandemic and have seen the need grow exponentially since. Food, shelter, and care should be basic human rights, yet so many go without." Transportation Area Manager, Flight Chief, Certified Scrum Master, Project Manager, avid reader, book reviewer, and so much more...
Yesterday, I had the privilege of volunteering at the Allegheny County Food Bank, where our team packed 960 boxes of essential food items for senior citizens in our community. This experience was not only fulfilling but also a vivid reflection of the values I embrace daily at Amazon. 📦 **Customer Obsession**: Each box was packed with the understanding that we're not just sending food; we're sending care, nutrition, and respect to those who need it most. 🔗 **Ownership**: Taking ownership of our collective goal, each volunteer was integral in ensuring we met our target. It was a powerful reminder that every effort counts, no matter the scale. 🔄 **Invent and Simplify**: We streamlined the packing process, implementing a simple assembly line that maximized efficiency and minimized wait times. Innovation isn't just for the workplace; it thrives wherever there's a need. 👫 **Hire and Develop the Best**: Working alongside volunteers from diverse backgrounds, it was clear that a community thrives when it leverages varied skills towards a common good. 🎯 **Deliver Results**: The goal was ambitious, but so was our commitment. Packing 960 boxes meant 960 opportunities to make a difference, and we delivered. This experience was a powerful reminder of how the principles that guide us professionally also resonate in our community contributions. I am proud to be part of a team that not only supports, but encourages us to give back. Here’s to making a difference, one box at a time! #Volunteering #CommunityService #LeadershipInAction #AmazonLeadershipPrinciples #DeliveringSmiles Amazon

Leadership & Confidence Coach for Senior Living Leaders|Speaker|2023 Bridge the Gap Ambassador|Aspire for More with Erin Podcast Host|Senior Virtual Health Director of Client Services
What are you giving your team for Christmas? Some of us have budgets we can access for our associate gifts and some of us don't. I loved getting my team presents that were thoughtful and specific to requests, but what is a lasting impression that we can give around the holidays? What about the gift of knowing their impact? Their value. The belief you have in them. That is a gift worth giving. And that type of gift keeps on giving as the year goes on. So be a little vulnerable and tell somebody everyday the impact they have on the team, your life and the success of your community and/or business. Stay tuned for more ideas to build culture, loyalty and a creative atmosphere in your community! #seniorliving #seniorlivingleadership #assistedliving #memorycare #seniorlivingprofessionals

Our extensive experience in managing, working with, and as a volunteer is unique in the consulting industry. That's why we have an even greater appreciation of April as National Volunteer Month! The service and gifts that volunteers provide are inspiring and need to be managed with care. Later this month, we're offering a workshop for the Rush County Community Foundation that highlights many aspects of running a volunteer program. We talk about the following: three major keys to a successful volunteer program. gathering feedback, why it's important to engage volunteers, the benefits of recruitment, why volunteers get involved and why they stop, who volunteers, how to enable your program and develop it, communicating with volunteers, and how to make a business case for corporate involvement. If you'd like us to provide the program in your community let's talk! #volunteers #volunteerappreciation #VolunteerAppreciationMonth
