When an aging parent experiences a fall, it can be both frightening and overwhelming. Ensuring their safety and well-being moving forward is crucial. Here are essential steps to take after a fall to help your loved one recover and prevent future incidents: ✅ Address Immediate Medical Needs: Ensure they receive proper medical attention and follow-up care. ✅ Take the First Fall Seriously: A fall doubles the chance of another. Address the issue head-on to prevent future incidents. ✅ Understand Common Causes: Factors like muscle weakness, medications, poor eyesight, and home hazards can contribute to falls. ✅ Enlist a Professional Caregiver: Caregivers trained in fall prevention can help with home safety assessments, medication management, and exercise routines. ✅ Encourage Balance and Strength Exercises: Activities to improve strength and balance are crucial. Consult a doctor or physical therapist for appropriate exercises. ✅ Acknowledge the Mental and Emotional Strain: Fear of falling again can lead to isolation and decreased activity. In just about every body image story the one question we ask our clients. When was the first time you remember being uncomfortable in your body? What we can tell you is in each and every story was the disapproval of their body by the medical community, family, friends, bullies, etc... What we are telling you is, anyone who criticizes your child's body (including yourself) isn't helping. We promise the harm will take years and years to undo and heal (and sometimes it's longer than you can imagine). If you are a caregiver, parent or medical provider and you are struggling with how your child's body (or those you work with) is showing up in the world, please seek out a fat positive dietitian or therapist. At Beyond our providers are trained to work with caregivers and medical professionals to challenge your own anti fat bias. #Antifatbias #fatpositivedietitian #Medicalcommunity #Medicalprovider #Medicalprofessionals #bodyimagestory #bodypositive #parents #eatingdisordersupport #haesdietitian #haestherapy #newtownpa

Let's address this together; Frequent passage of loose stool, clinically called Diarrhea, is a major cause of death in children below the age of five. It will interest you to know that the effects of diarrhea affect both great and small equally. It leads to dehydration, extreme body weakness, shock, unconsciousness, and death. In situations like this, rehydration is the core component of treatment. Individuals and parents/guardians are encouraged to start Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORS) before coming to the hospital. It could be prescribed even after your visit to continue rehydration at home. Now, the question is how do you dilute ORS before use? To be Continued. Kindly share your opinion in the comments. I'm interested in not just letting my audience know the right thing to do but HOW to do it correctly. Happy midweek #Linkedinfamily. P.S. In cases of diarrhea and vomiting visit the nearest clinic ASAP. I’m #ThatAffableNurse, I bring good things your way. I’m open to collaborations, writing gigs, speaking engagements, moderating, and ambassadorships for health & wellness brands. If my expertise aligns with your needs, please reach out. #Nursing #HealthAdvocate #LinkedinNurses #SteppedUpNurses #OralRehydrationTherapy.
