Training and development are essential components of any organization, significantly impacting employee growth, job satisfaction, and productivity. A company that prioritizes training and development fosters a culture that creates motivation and engagement among employees. This dedication is built on the organization's commitment to systematic programs aimed at enhancing the skills, knowledge, and competencies necessary for success.
At Sibanye-Stillwater Reldan, we are committed to continuous improvement. Last week, we temporarily closed our facilities to conduct one-day offsite training for all employees. This training encouraged employees to interact with colleagues from different departments, fostering better relationships. We focused on safety, security and engaged in candid discussions about the future of our division.

Creating a strong safety culture in the workplace is crucial for the well-being of employees and the success of the organization.
A robust safety culture fosters an environment where everyone feels empowered to identify hazards, report concerns, and take proactive steps to prevent accidents. This not only reduces the risk of injuries and illnesses but also enhances productivity and morale.
Investing in safety initiatives demonstrates a commitment to employee welfare and creates a positive reputation for the company. It's not just about following regulations; it's about prioritizing people.
Let's continue to champion safety culture in our workplaces, because when safety comes first, everyone wins.
1 Million Safe Man-Hours! As of October 4, 2024, RNGD proudly achieved 1 million safe work hours without a single OSHA recordable injury!
This accomplishment highlights our dedication to workplace safety and proactive measures for employee well-being. Reaching this milestone reflects our commitment to a safety-first culture, strict adherence to protocols, and continuous vigilance. A huge thank you to the entire RNGD team for maintaining a “Safety Always” mindset, embodying our core values of Safety Always For Everyone (S.A.F.E.). While we celebrate this achievement, RNGD remains dedicated to ongoing safety improvements through training, regular inspections, and employee feedback.
It's National Safety Month! Each week of June, we'll highlight different safety topics to promote an environment where workplace safety is paramount.
This week, we're focused on safety engagement. The key benefit of safety engagement is that it creates a culture where employees are not just following rules but are emotionally invested in safety as a core value. Engaged employees view safety not just as a job requirement but as a personal responsibility and commitment to protecting themselves and others.

Safety doesn't have to be boring. Companies can make their safety programs matter by engaging their employees in a business safety culture that values their voices, ideas, and solutions.
Facilitaed by our WHS team and SSE, Mick Barry, EQ Resources recently took another step towards bolstering its #safetyculture with an event called Stop and Prop. Imagine gathering everyone on site, from the frontline crew to the office staff, to focus on one thing: making their workplace safer.
That's exactly what happened, and it wasn't just any meeting. We were honoured to host Garry Nichols, a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Advocate to share his story as an amputee and provide insights that really made everyone think about how they approach safety every day.
Here are the highlights on what this initiative was all about:
🛑Stop and Prop Initiative: We hit the pause button on the regular day-to-day, to remind us all of the EQR values and talk about how everyone can contribute to a safer work environment.
🗣Guest Speaker : First hand experiences and insights bravely shared amongst peers can change how we see things. A real reminder on the importance of safety practices and avoiding complacency in the workplace.
💭A Learning Moment: This wasn’t about ticking boxes. It was a genuine opportunity for everyone at EQ Resources to deepen their understanding and commitment to safety across the Mt Carbine site.
⁉️But why is this so important? Because, it ties back to a bigger picture in Queensland’s mining industry. This initiative aligns with findings from "The state of safety reporting culture in Queensland’s mining industry" ,a recent survey that delivered some interesting findings:
➡️Positive Findings:
Strong team support for safety among mine workers.
Adherence to safety standards and reporting of concerns is encouraged.
➡️Areas for Improvement:
Enhancing the clarity and ease of use of reporting systems.
Increasing recognition of positive safety behaviors.
Involving frontline workers more in safety initiatives.
👷♀️👷🏽♂️We believe that by facilitating conversation, we are nudging our colleagues to have a hard look at how things are done and encouraging discussion on how they can be done better. It’s about building a culture where safety isn’t just a poster on the wall but a real, living thing that everyone is part of. Now, that’s something worth talking about.
