A huge thank you to the European Regions Airline Association for putting together this week’s Regional Airline Conference in Berlin. Always a superb opportunity for us at Heart Aerospace to reconnect with airlines, industry colleagues and those at the forefront of regional aviation in Europe. It was a great to moderate the session on ‘Financing the Green Transition’ with such an experienced panel. Thank you Marianne Sieg de Maintenant, Anne-Bart Tieleman, Olivier Ravel and Nicolae Petrov. Some interesting takeaways I noted: ✅ Public finance will be essential in the next decade to scale new technology and SAF to get them to a point where they become commercially self sustaining. ✅ To contine to attract private investment it will remain critical to show an ROI whether that be SAF or new technology. ✅As an industry we need to continue demonstrating the value and importance of regional aviation to European connectivity and economic development - part of the ROI for governments if we want them to invest. ✅We need to work harder to give more political profile to the role of new technology in meeting the industry 2050 net zero targets. SAF alone will not get us to the finish line, we need a basket of measures. ✅SAF is not yet scaling at the necessary rates, the price remains high and regional carriers are likely to find it hard to access in the early years - this makes the case for new technology even more important for the regional sector as a reliever for SAF demand that will be critical for long haul flying. Looking forward to the General Assembly already!
Thanks so much for your great work moderating the session Simon - brilliant debate!
Many thanks to you Simon McNamara and to European Regions Airline Association. It was a pleasure to participate
I really enjoyed the panel discussion under your professional moderation. The only thing I would have wanted more of is electric aviation. But then again.. It is almost impossible to get enough, right?!
Grateful to be able to participate, interesting topics, many things to be done! Well done with the panel facilitation Simon.
