COO at Bizly, Strategic Sales, Marketing and Partnerships Exec, Former Amex Exec and Harvard Travel Dir and Financial Analyst, Columbia MBA
Some key takeaways that I jotted down: - "Converging all lodging spend can deliver savings of up to 16%" attributed to HRS on a slide - Travel Managers said the benefits of combining transient and M&E volume were leverage during negotiations and better visibility and control of their programs. Also, many executive admins like to plan meetings and can be reluctant to support preferred suppliers and approved processes. - Hoteliers in the room were open to looking at a customer's full profile and stressed the importance of getting to know customers and building strong relationships. - The value of outsourcing to specialized resources came up several times as well. - Improvements in available data have made combining spend easier over the years. Many thanks to the presenters: Bev Allen, MBA, Kristen Reeves, CCTE, Brendon Duca and moderator Shalini Iyer! Great job! Outstanding session! Yeah, That's me in the Bizly shirt in the front row! Great to be part of this Panel discussion at the #MEW2024 event in Swansea. Key points from my perspective, with a particular focus on The Crown Estate Round 5 process. - We already know lots about key consenting issues. We just need to access and apply this learning in a sensible and pragmatic way. - For existing and future key issues, strategic level studies should be the primary mechanism to resolve them (whilst recognising that project-level studies will also play a key role). - Collaboration is key. From optimising stakeholder engagement to methods of data collection to approaches to assessment.

Understanding hope in a philosophical light compels us to reflect on our roles within this dynamic. As global citizens, how do we respond to the hope of others in distress? Do our actions contribute to the fulfillment or the frustration of this hope? Such reflection will determine the way we answer these questions and shapes not just policies and responses to crises (refugee crisis and others) but the very fabric of our shared humanity. Hope, then, is not merely a survival and health strategy; it is a profound testament to the resilience and indefatigable spirit of those who dare to dream of a better tomorrow amidst the rubble of their pasts. It challenges each of us to respond with compassion and justice, ensuring that hope is not a cruel irony but a prelude to a new beginning. Great comment
Day 167. 134+ hostages are still being held captive by Hamas (and affiliates). One of the hostages still being held is Shlomi Ziv (now 41). On October 7, Shlomi was taken hostage while working as a security usher at the Nova festival. Shlomi did not carry ammo. Before being taken hostage, Shlomi spoke to his sister Adi. Shlomi told her terrorists were shooting and rocket sirens were blaring, but that he and his team were at their cars and heading home; he also told his sister that there was bottleneck of cars trying to flee the festival. The last Shlomi’s family heard from him, Shlomi was speaking with his other sister Revital. He was breathing heavily and told her he’d call her back. He didn’t have a chance to call her back. Shlomi lives in Moshav Elkosh with his wife (Miren). Shlomi deserves to come home. Bring Shlomi home. Bring them all home. Demand the release of the hostages. #releasethehostages #bringthemhomenow
