The 2 phases of a project management career pivot: ☝ Gradual, slow progression Then, ✌ Sudden, overwhelming response This is true for EVERY pivoter I know. And it's usually the result of small "tweaks" ✅ A more focused, better translated and formatted resume ✅ True engagement of a network and personal relationships ✅ Better research and prep for roles applied to and interviews had I know how it feels when you're in the middle of it. Things seem hopeless, the pivot will never come. You may even feel like it's time to put a pin in this dream. But those small tweaks turn the tides, leading to: 👉 Multiple interviews 👉 Things starting to "click" 👉 Your network responding and going to bat for you And then: 🌟 Opportunity(ies) come! The moral of the story: → Audit your strategies → Double down on the things that work → Show up consistently (in whatever way that looks day-to-day) YOUR breakthrough is coming. PS: Wherever you are in the journey, I have a resource that can help you! Check out the Featured section of my profile for the many options I have available.

Happy 4th of July! Here's 4 things you're likely already doing that can lead to a project management role: 1. Facilitating meetings Not all meetings are created equal. Have meetings that are effective. Set agenda, evaluated list, driving decisions and progress. 2. Managing work and teams I've spoken a lot about building PM experience where you are. If you've done this, you're likely already performing PM duties. Document what you're doing, the outcomes, and supportive metrics. 3. Reporting on KPIs How do you know if what you're doing is worthwhile? You need goals and metrics to measure against. That's where key performance indicators (KPIs) come in. Make sure every project you're on has them, evaluates them, and reports on them regularly. 4. Executing progression What gets measured gets managed (see KPIs above). As a PM, you're constantly driving progress forward. There's a good chance you're doing this in your current work and projects. Make sure you keep a running journal to reference toward new opportunity. See, you're already a project manager. You just don't have the title yet. Keep doing the above. Document everything you're doing. Incorporate effectively into your resume. Start applying, networking, and pursuing new opportunities. Look at you go, project manager.
