The heart of the Life Sciences and Diagnostics industries is a small, tight-knit community of people committed to doing great work. #ADLM is a “homecoming” of sorts. It’s a chance to meet up with long-time colleagues face-to-face and reconnect with peers and past coworkers you haven’t seen in a while. I had a great time in Chicago at the beginning of the month, both seeing my team (Blythe Rudolph & Alexandra Orr) and bumping into old friends and colleagues I was overdue on catching up with. One observation from the event this year is that there is renewed energy and urgency around hiring. A lot of companies have gone through layoffs and restructuring recently. Now, many are looking to rebuild their teams. I was pleasantly surprised by how many leaders are approaching hiring strategically and intentionally while maintaining that necessary sense of urgency. This is important because, more than ever, candidates are being selective about where they will/will not work, with an increasing focus on things like company culture, leadership, and work-life balance. As always, the industry continues to evolve; and those who can maintain strong relationships, identify emerging trends, and appeal to the priorities of top talent will be best positioned for success now and in the future. Hi friends! With the announcement of my new career services business, Kylie Michele Careers I wanted to talk about my vision, the inspiration behind the company and what it can do for you! For years I have negotiated with and built teams for some of the world’s top product and design leaders across companies like Airbnb, Reddit, Inc., Atlassian and Ironclad. For a while, being able to bring in women, Black, brown and disabled folks gave me my purpose. It showed me that I could have an amazing career while also bringing some good to the world. But at the end of the day, recruiters are on the company’s team - not yours. Now, the best recruiters are absolutely on your team, but we are pressured by recruiting leadership to churn and work at a pace that’s untenable. When I got laid off from Reddit after doing some of the best work of my life rebuilding their entire UX recruiting organization, it killed me. I had incredibly strong performance, I had made a huge difference to the company and I was working with really talented people. But that’s the nature of capitalism and recruiting. The thought of going back into recruiting during this nightmare market, where recruiters are either out of work or worked to the bone, sounded awful. I’m tired. I’ve done 5 years straight of hyper growth and the pace was killing me. So I decided to get out of the tech rat race. I decided to take a bet on myself, and use my knowledge and expertise and almost decade of experience recruiting to bring that knowledge to you. With companies making record profits and using the excuse of “it’s just business” when they are laying you off, taking away your source of income, livelihood - well then, in my opinion, it’s just business to enable workers as much as we possibly can. My programs and 1:1 strategic sessions are focused on that - giving the power back to you. Enabling you to take as much money from corporations to make sure you thrive. They are certainly doing that for themselves, why not you? Let’s rewrite the narrative. If tech is backed up by full HR teams, lawyers, finance teams, etc., why wouldn’t you deserve to be fully enabled too? I promise you, having a recruiter that knows the ins and outs of finance teams, hiring mangers, interview processes, will absolutely ensure you get a higher income, better titles and a full optimized career. As many of you know by now, just a few weeks ago—only 4 months after I joined—Moxion Power closed its doors. This wasn’t my first layoff in a startup struggling with financial issues as it tries to scale and grow its customer base, but this one cut especially deep. A topic often overlooked in these situations is the social violence inflicted on employees. 😔 Beyond the economic implications, what hit the hardest is the abrupt end to the collaboration, the vision, and the passion we had collectively built. You spend countless hours building trust, aligning diverse teams, and driving towards a shared goal and great mission, ready to change the world. But when a company abruptly closes or decide to lay-off a big chunk of its workforce, especially without warnings, the bonds and shared passion that fueled the work are suddenly and painfully severed. 💔 The vision we crafted together is no longer, and the product we poured our hearts into is lost—gone, without the time to properly reflect, without the time to grieve, without proper goodbyes! We can, of course, stay in touch with our now friends-coworkers, but it will never be the same. We did try to make things better, but there wasn't enough time! This experience has reinforced for me the importance of resilience and adaptability in our industry. It’s a reminder that while products may come and go, the skills we develop in #CrossFunctionalCollaboration, the ability to unite teams around a common purpose, and the drive to see a vision through to fruition are what truly endure. Without us— Talents —there are no products! As I look to the future, I carry forward the lessons learned from all of those professional adventures—the importance of building strong, trust-based relationships and the power of a unified team to create something remarkable. I have made true friends, met mentors, and learned so much so fast. While the end of Moxion was a significant chapter in my career, it’s also a stepping stone towards new opportunities to apply these skills in engineering, product and marketing and continue to drive innovation on how to bring successful products to market. 🚀 With that said, I am open to work and actively seeking my next opportunity in product leadership to contribute and grow in a dynamic environment. #ProductMarketing #ProductManagement #Leadership #GoToMarket #Resilience #CareerGrowth #ClimateTech #Product #StartupLife #Teamwork

The hiring strategy that helped me build my team in the early days. We scaled quickly from a team of 1 engineer (just me) to a team of 4 engineers. And this is what helped us scale.
