Employment industry of choice or by chance? Never heard or heard but only bad words? Heard that they work for the environment, but it's all a load of buzz. Seems like bias against #chemical #industry and image issues. (𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯'𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵. But the impact is positive and significant, only unseen/hidden/overlooked ?, difficult for me to say) Great piece. Strongly #recommend to read. #WomenInChemicals #WomenEmpowerment #AllWomen #GrowthMindset

The chemical industry has a major marketing problem: our crucial contributions to society are often overshadowed by negative perceptions. The public doesn’t know what the chemical industry’s purpose is, and worse, they believe it only detracts from society. Read my thoughts in the article below on how this challenge impacts our ability to attract talent and what organizations like Women in Chemicals are doing to address this. Fortifying our industry for future success means we need to address this visibility and perception problem for the next generation of talent as they make their way into the workforce. Thank you to C&EN & Laura Howes for the opportunity to contribute to C&EN's opinion articles. Extra special thank you to Pooja Aggarwal, Ph.D. for identifying and bringing forward this opportunity!

Did you know that the chemical industry plays a pivotal role in our everyday lives? From fighting COVID-19 to ensuring a constant food supply, chemistry is at the heart of progress. Yet, there’s a massive marketing gap – the public often sees us as a net negative. Amelia Greene says, "We need to take an active role in debunking the public’s negative perception of the industry at large and showing its value to society. We need to better tell our story, share our wins, and market ourselves to the next generation as an industry of choice for employment." Women in Chemicals is here to bridge the gap. We’re a vibrant community committed to empowering women across the chemical value chain. Let’s make the chemical industry visible and attract the brightest minds! Read Amelia Greene's insightful article in Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN) for more on this topic & learn about the Women in Chemicals program, Career in Chemicals: https://lnkd.in/ggHyCuev

👩🔬 Female Faces of Chemistry⚗ 3️⃣ ⏰ We continue the Fecc #role #model countdown to our virtual #Diversity & #Inclusion (D&I) event on the 8 March! 🙌 Join us online on 8 March - see below for more details & registration! This time, we are delighted to introduce here Claudia Dellera | Regulatory Affairs Director, Global at Univar Solutions, who generously answered the following relevant questions on the topic: 1️⃣ What does Diversity & Inclusion mean to you? ◾ Diversity is recognising, respecting, and celebrating each other’s differences, while inclusion is making everyone welcome and valued for the differences, perspectives, experiences and identities they bring to our business. A workplace that embraces both diversity and inclusion #empowers a culture of respect, creativity and #innovation where many mindsets and backgrounds coexist successfully. 2️⃣ Why would you encourage ladies to join the chemical industry? ◾ Our industry offers a wealth of opportunities for all genders. Encouraging women to join the chemical industry is not just about increasing fairness; it is a #strategic opportunity that can lead to a more vibrant, innovative and successful industry. It is about leveraging the #talents of the entire population and creating a #workplace that reflects the diversity of our broader society. 3️⃣ What can you do in your specific job to foster D&I? ◾ For me, I see fostering diversity and inclusion as an ongoing process for our entire organization that requires commitment, continuous learning and adaptability. We all have a part to play in creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels respected, supported and able to contribute their unique perspectives and talents. I use my voice and the support of our leaders to advocate for D&I wherever I can and use my expertise to influence team leaders to demonstrate inclusive behaviours daily. ℹ EVENT’S INFORMATION 🤝 Co-host: Chemical Week by S&P Global 📅 8 March 2024 | 10:30-12:00 CET 📲 Registration: https://lnkd.in/d3tNfz5N 🔵 Event’s detailed information: https://lnkd.in/dweEEfnw #chemical #value #chain

It is very easy to relate to this post knowing that around 70% (yes, is not a typo) of the talented scientists working in Teva's RnD Netanya site are women. 👋 Meet Heather De Luca, Head of Global Program Leadership, R&D; Eric Hughes, Head of Global R&D and Chief Medical Officer; and Sophie Lamle, SVP, Head of Innovative Medicines, R&D. Heather, Eric, and Sophie share their thoughts on diversity in the workplace, women in leadership roles, biases in the corporate arena, and how they drive innovation to stay ahead of the curve. 🌟 Celebrating our Female Team Members on International Women's Day 2024! 🌟 As we mark #IWD2024, we're proud to highlight the amazing women powering our team at PRA. From leadership to innovation, their contributions inspire us all. Join us in celebrating their achievements and advocating for diversity and inclusion. #wise Personal service is at the heart of everything we do at PRA, so to help you get to know the women on out team, we've asked them all to answer a few questions about themselves and their work. The first of three is Dr Laura Pilon CChem. 1. What does your role at PRA involve? I have a dual role - Senior Scientist and Quality Manager. On a daily basis I juggle managing and delivering research projects both for single customers and for ourselves, with managing the business processes than ensure our ISO 17025 accredited paint testing laboratory can operate effectively. My particular project specialities are polymer synthesis and chemistry, rheological and thermal analysis, sustainability and paint formulation. 2. What inspired you to pursue a career in the paint industry? There is such a variety of science that goes on the paints industry, and it directly uses the polymer chemistry and colloid science that I specialised in during my DPhil. Every day is different and I love that the work I do ultimately impacts so many real life problems. 3. Can you share a significant accomplishment or project you've worked on recently? I'm working on a solvent sustainability guide for the coatings industry right now, in collaboration with Professor Helen Sneddon at York University - we're hoping to publish it imminently, so watch this space. 4. What skills or qualities do you believe are essential for success in your role? Attention to detail, a focus on what our customers value, and enough curiosity about why an experiment has failed to get back in the lab and find a solution. 5. Where are you most likely to be found outside of work? Out in the countryside with my camera and/or dog!
