Ssembwa Orphanage Care Uganda Educating a disabled child can help them reach their full potential, develop skills, and become positive role models. It can also help reduce discrimination and poverty. Here are some ways that education can help disabled children: Inclusive education Allows children with and without disabilities to grow up together, which can improve confidence, self-image, and relationships. It can also promote respect, trust, and cooperation. Special education Can address individual learning differences and needs with specialized supports. This can help children develop cognitively and grow into mainstream society. Employment prospects Children with developmental disabilities who don't go to school may have reduced employment prospects. Education can help them develop skills that allow them to join the workforce, which can help prevent poverty Help KISAKYE and SIMON to have a good education so that their future is secured by connecting charity ambassador Glenn Oakes. Journalist, content creator, singer, podcast producer and coach. Currently sight loss church advisor for Torch Trust for the blind.
As a blind person, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find a job. That's why I wish there was a law that required organizations serving blind and partially sighted people to have at least 20% of their employees be blind or partially sighted themselves. This should apply to every level of the organization, from the top to the bottom. But it shouldn't stop there. Every blind person who applies for a job at one of these organizations should be given an interview as long as they meet the minimum requirements. Unfortunately, there are very few job opportunities available for us blind folks. Working for sight loss charities should give us an edge over sighted individuals, but the reality is that we still have to compete with them for jobs. It's time for a change. Let's work towards a more inclusive and equitable job market for blind and partially sighted individuals. #EqualOpportunities #Inclusion #BlindnessAwareness

Youth Homelessness Matters Day! Please read this post and share it your friends and your connections or followers so we would never forget this important day. As a human being, It's the least we can do. To spread information about the #youth #homless #matters #Youthhomelessnessmatters Youth Homelessness Matters Day is observed to raise awareness and public discussion of homeless young people so that there can be sustainable and innovative solutions for supporting their needs and their dreams. Did you know that over 20,000 young people in Australia (aged 12 to 24) are homeless on any given night? More than a half of 18-year-olds accessing homelessness services from 2019 to 2020 had experienced domestic and family violence. That’s why youth homelessness matters. Lonely, harassed and abandoned in society: The lived experiences of Iranian homeless youth Introduction: Homelessness is increasing among young adults in large cities. According to the United Nations, there are more than one billion absolute or relative homeless people in the world. This study was conducted to explain the lived experiences of homeless youth in southeastern Iran. Materials and methods: In this qualitative study, we recruited 13 participants in a big city, southeast Iran, in 2020. The participant was young homeless adults aged 18-29 years who were using homeless shelters provided by the municipality, sleeping in parks or on streets. Data were collected through in-depth and semi-structured interviews and three focus group discussions. Data were analyzed by conventional qualitative content analysis. Results: The main category of "lonely, annoyed, and abandoned in society" and three subcategories of avoidance of/by society, comprehensive harassment, and lack of comprehensive support were extracted. The experiences of young homeless adults showed that they escaped from the community due to addiction, feeling like a burden to others, and social isolation, and not only have they been left without support in society, but they have also suffered from all kinds of physical and psychological harassments. Conclusion: The lived experiences of homeless people show that in addition to appropriate facilities and living conditions, they require respect, reduced social stigma, discrimination, and favorable conditions for a return to life. Therefore, authorities should identify and settle their problems and needs. As a Black Muslim woman I'm often reminded that many people in this country can't stand the thought of me just living here, let alone thriving. My very existence angers some people. The fact that the government and media cannot call the actions described below in the bullet points what they are, demonstrates how deep-seated white supremacy is. White supremacy is in the very fabric of every system in the U.K. , so naming it, would mean acknowledging its existence and potentially, the need to do something about it. Come on, Britain was built on White supremacy. Let's be logical. I've heard BBC news presenters calling the riots "anti-immigration" protests. It's never been about immigration or lack of wealth and resources. Those issues represent merely drops in the larger white supremacy ocean. I'm not even angry. Anger would mean I'd expect something different and this is the reality. I will say, however, that I have seen ordinary people take a stand against hatred. I applaud all these people. You are seen. Still, the fact stands, that these riots present the opportunity to tackle a very insidious problem. Let's talk about the ideology that encourages and emboldens people to behave in this destructive manner. Are people even ready for honest conversation? Lastly, as someone who has worked with young people; this is a reminder that a young Black and Brown child cannot escape these topics. From a very young age conversations about race, religion and how identity can impact lived experience will have to take place. If these children have to have the capacity to manage these painful conversations, White children should be taught about race, xenophobia and ultimately White supremacy in a safe and age appropriate way. Education is key 🔐
As someone who works in community engagement, co-runs a charity for Muslim women and works with refugee groups I feel so angry at everything that’s happening across the country. I’m angry at politicians who have continuously used dangerous rhetoric, government who refuse to create a definition for Islamaphobia, I’m angry at media outlets and people online who spread misinformation and use dangerous language creating a culture of scapegoating and hatred. I hate that whenever I do a risk assessment for a hike I have to add in two extra lines about a potential Islamaphobic and racial attack. I hate that I have to tell visibly Muslim women to be careful when they go outside and to never stand near the yellow line on the tube incase they get pushed infront of a train. I hate that we share a world with people that will happily burn down a hotel with children who’ve already been through unspeakable trauma who now have to add this horror to their memory bank. If you are an employer and you’re reading this, your POC colleagues are probably not ok. Please support them- acknowledge what’s happening and speak out against it, let them work from home and create safe spaces.
