Throw Off Extra "Stuff", by Juan A Garcia Marathon runners train to last. They wear light clothes and some even run barefoot to get accustomed to the terrain. It is important to do so because it helps with keeping a certain speed to last. It helps produce endurance. The writer of Hebrews focuses on this concept of running "light" when he says in chapter 12, verse 1, "let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles." He is reminding us that there are things that can get in the way of our spiritual development and growth. Sin can get us tangled up and cause us to lose our way. Ultimately, its purpose is to separate us from a healthy relationship with God. I'm reminded of a time my wife and I were traveling. We decided to check our bags curbside. I placed one of our bags on the scale and it registered, "52 pounds". The representative said, "Your bag is in excess. That will cost you an extra $150." I looked at my wife and we both grabbed the smaller bag we had and proceeded to take some items from the overweight bag, to put into the other bag. Then it hit me. When we are headed to a greater destination with extra baggage, it is GOING TO COST US! There are unnecessary items we may be carrying around that can slow us down. Things like unforgiveness, anger, regret, guilt, shame and so many others; they can easily tangle us up. Let us then, throw off all the extra "stuff." Challenge: Identify some of the things that may easily entangle you. How are you combating or “throwing off” their power over your life? “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” Hebrews 12:1 NKJV https://lnkd.in/ghf7x-Sc “No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” II Timothy 2:4 NKJV https://lnkd.in/gcG8pmzF

Good morning LinkedIn and Happy Tuesday!!! I hope that you are all doing well and those of you who are transitioning from the military to civilian life have that transition going smoothly...but to be honest, it probably isn't going as smooth as you want it. It is probably going more like this game of Tetris, trying to find the right place to fit all of the different things that are coming your way. A couple of things that you have to remember as you are going through one of the most difficult periods of your life. Start to survey the land as early as possible. Things are going to change quickly and if you do not know what is going on then you might not see what pieces are coming down the pike. Don't try to make a piece fit if it doesn't fit. You will be offered advice and services that you do not currently need. Thank those who offer it and tell them you will reach out when you are ready. If you ever notice whenever someone introduces a person to me, I always say have them reach out when they are ready. I do that because I do not want to assume to know what they need and would rather wait instead of offering advice that might actually do more harm than good. The pieces will eventually start falling faster, but if you have a solid base and a sharp eye, you will be able to avoid confusion and you will be able to make that transition as smoothly as possible. Remember you got this. Paisley on. #tetris #makingthepiecesfit #takeyourtime #keepyoureyeout #transition #paisleyon

Check out the link below to find out how you can help get this bill passed!
“Early this year, the Love Lives On Act was introduced in the US Senate and House of Representatives. 💛 If passed, this bill would eliminate the remarriage penalty and remove antiquated verbiage from the current law. 💛 It would allow surviving spouses to retain the benefits given to them, and their children, at the time of their spouses death, no matter how they chose to move forward in their lives.” 💛 💛💛💛 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gysXueXY #militarynostresspcs #military #militaryfamilies #militaryspouse #goldstarfamilies

Today, on Veteran's Day, we pause to honor the men and women who have served our nation with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. These individuals embody the very essence of the American spirit – a spirit of resilience, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of freedom and democracy. The warrior spirit, deeply ingrained in the American ethos, is not merely about battlefield valor; it's about the unwavering commitment to a cause greater than oneself. It's about rising above fear, uncertainty, and adversity, and pushing forward with unwavering resolve. It's about the willingness to sacrifice personal comfort and security for the sake of others. Our veterans have demonstrated this warrior spirit time and again. They have faced unimaginable challenges, endured unimaginable hardships, and emerged as beacons of strength and resilience. Their warrior spirit permeates every aspect of American society, from those who serve to the entrepreneurs who dare to dream big. It's the spirit that drives us to overcome obstacles, pursue our passions, and strive for a better future. Veteran's Day is not just a day to honor those who have served; it's a day to rekindle the warrior spirit within ourselves. It's a day to recommit ourselves to the ideals of freedom, democracy, and service to others. It's a day to remember that the warrior spirit is not defined by military service; it's defined by the courage to stand up for what is right, to persevere in the face of adversity, and to never give up on the promise of a better tomorrow.

Founder of "One of the Few" | High Performance Mentor | Crypto Enthusiast | Speaker | Adventurer | Positive Game Changer 🌟I help leaders and companies build for respect and results. 🌟 DM me today! 🏆
There’s chatter going on in veterans groups talking about how veterans treat each other. 💔 It’s hitting home because of Memorial Day. There was a 9yr stretch where I got away from my USMC side. It happened for a few reasons, not intentional. 1️⃣ I was creating a new life in CO after the military & divorce. 2️⃣The only Marine I was around was my BFF 3️⃣ I felt like I was bragging when I spoke about it to others 4️⃣ 1998, we witnessed a guy die horrifically on I25. It f*cked with me mentally because it made me question my strength as a Marine. After, I lost a little bit of my cockiness. It never returned. 2006, I ran the USMC marathon and my heart sang! It woke a sleeping giant. 2008, I did my first veteran charity event and sparked another 🔥 within me. I recognized my gift to other veterans was the fact that I wasn’t in war and I had used my time after the service to focus on personal dev. I no longer carried shame for not being in combat, but could use my clean slate to give them a safe place to share w/out judgement, sage advice, and a friend for life. 2013, I started my biz. Building a personal brand has its mind games. Sharing that USMC side of me publicly was a different level. I didn’t want to be the quarterback talking about the good ole days and I had plenty of combat veteran friends returning from the MidEast. I began to recognize my training had been the driving force behind so many great moments and I had an appreciation for my USMC days in a way I hadn’t before. 2018, I pulled it into my biz. 2020, One Of The Few was born. You have to leverage ALL you are because it’s gotten you to this point. It’s the life experiences that shaped the way you think. And it’s in those lessons, you can find your purpose. You have an opportunity to make an impact. Don’t do it because of what anyone else will think. Do it because of who you are. At your core. Leadership starts with you. How you lead yourself through your actions, your words, and how you let your character shine. When a veteran shows poor character, it stings us all. Rise above the noise and lead by example. Let others do what they do. Whether they’re ready or not, they need a light to show them what’s possible. Maybe they’ll never be ready, but that’s not up to you. There are many people that DO need you and are waiting for you to lead. When you impact ONE, you’ve made the world better. Veterans…you’re one of the greatest underutilized assets out there. You may have an “I’ve done my time” attitude and you really do not owe anymore. If you’ve gone through some 💩 and need some rest, do so. But I encourage you to play bigger for yourself. You’re wired differently and you never know what is going to spark the best parts of you. That spark may be just the thing to heal the darkest parts of you. #iseeyou. And together, we’ll lift other veterans. Show them Semper Fidelis means something! Do it for the ONE. 👊😎 https://lnkd.in/g2hCzTbA

Life Strategist | Transformational Leadership Coach | Catalyst | Conservationist | Humanitarian ~ Empowering people to bring their dreams into the light of day ~
To those transitioning from the military or undergoing major life changes in 2024: Your life path is YOURS... unique to you...to be designed by YOU... it MUST be aligned with your Ethos otherwise you'll become lost along the way. Don't copy somebody else's journey... realize you're in control and authoring your life... so make it an epic adventure worth living and sharing with others. +++++++++ At times, your path in life will take unexpected twists and turns with difficulties and setbacks. Sometimes you'll feel like you're not making progress or even regressing. You may feel like you've lost your way and fallen off your path in life. At these times it's your inner compass-- your Ethos-- which will illuminate the journey-- gently telling you both which way to go and which paths to avoid. Take the time before that big decision point or transition in life to contemplate and identify your Ethos so you'll begin the journey heading in the right direction and able to hear your inner voice/compass when needed. #lifestyledesign #lifecoach #transitioningmilitary #liveyourdreams #pathtosuccess

🌟 Fitness Friday 🌟 Sometimes, being an adult feels overwhelming. 🏃♂️💼 Going to work every day can drain us, leaving us questioning our accomplishments. 🤔💭 But what if a simple habit could transform both your mornings and nights? 🛌✨ US Admiral William H. McCraven, with 36 years as a Navy SEAL, emphasized the power of making your bed every morning. 🌅🇺🇸 During his rigorous service, maintaining a spick-and-span room was non-negotiable. He believes this daily task can set the tone for a successful day. 🏆 👉 Making your bed is the first victory of the day. It instills a sense of pride and kick-starts a chain of achievements. 🎖️🔄 By night, this single task multiplies into many, proving that the little things truly matter.🛏️💡 Embracing this small task can teach us a big lesson: mastery of the minor details paves the way to conquering significant challenges. And on tough days, a neatly made bed welcomes you back, offering hope for a better tomorrow. 🌈➡️ Ready to tackle life head-on? Start by tucking in those sheets. 🛌🚀 Sometimes, the key to complexity is simplicity itself. 🗝️💖 https://lnkd.in/gZZ_mDxp
