Developing modern, vibrant, flexible Rotary to be part of our communities in the 21st Century
Starting a Rotary Satellite Club offers the additional benefits of expanding project possibilities, visibility, and the impact of Rotary in your community. As an example of how this model of Rotary club can work, Robert Lovick recently took a look at the Great Yarmouth Haven Rotary Club, a club that has maintained a presence in the local community through two satellite groups, for the latest edition of Rotary Digital. TLDR: Flavor Flav is setting a new standard and it’s giving us all the feels. In sports, we see women working their asses off to excel in their games. They make the most of every opportunity and still face incredible challenges when trying to reach the pinnacle - an olympic medal. Maggie Steffens recently highlighted another important issue: the lack of financial support for women in sports after college. These athletes have worked tirelessly to become the best, yet they face significant challenges supporting themselves while training to represent our country. Flavor Flav is not only bringing incredible energy to women’s water polo (YESSSS) but he’s also personally financially backing the US Women's Water Polo Team. He swam up to the net (see what I did there) in a game-changing way. I think a lot can be taken from Flavor Flav’s gesture. In our startup world, I have a lot of conversations about our CAPSULE internship program. Not only because it's been incredibly impactful to the company, but also because we're extremely passionate about doing our part to create opportunities and education for women in tech. As a female-founded technical company, Kelsey Pedersen and I were passionate about prioritizing opening doors for young women across the country and demystifying both the functional roles and the ‘how this is built’ of a technical startup. The sad reality is there just aren't a ton of opportunities for young women to be exposed to technical startups early on. We knew we wanted to be able to show them how engineering, product development, and business operate behind the scenes. Even as a small team, we're determined to make a difference. Today we have 10 women across the country that we’re bringing along on our startup ride and we’re working hard to scale to 200. We’re channeling our Flavor Flav energy every day and encourage you to as well. Any questions about how we’ve made this happen, please dm me. We’re here to help support young entrepreneurs as much as we possibly can. #StartupJourney #CommunitySupport #womenintech #femalefounders #FlavorFlav #USAWaterPolo
In May, US polo team captain Maggie Steffens asked for financial help on Instagram. Flavor Flav – William Jonathan Drayton Jr – answered the call: “As a girl dad and supporter of all women’s sports, imma personally sponsor you, my girl, whatever you need. And imma sponsor the whole team.” Flav signed a five-year sponsorship deal to “elevate the visibility and excitement surrounding water polo in the United States.” The sponsorship includes personal appearances and financial contributions to help with equipment, facilities, and anything else they need. This is how it’s done 👏

*SUPER BOWL TRIVIA ALERT* We take a moment away from the practice of law to prepare for this week's big game. Anyone who knows me well knows my love of sports trivia. In college and in law school, I organized trivia tournaments for charity that were based a format that my dad and grandfather taught me on road trips to various sports events growing up. I usually satisfy my fix at this time of the year by listening to Chris "Mad Dog" Russo's annual super bowl trivia contest, but that contest is not taking place. To fill the void, I have assembled the attached list of questions about the Super Bowl and/or this year's two participants. They generally progress from easier to more difficult throughout. I welcome all participants (just submit your forms via email to MOG@gatewood-law.com ... and if you want a Word version of the document, just shoot me an email). There are 80 questions with 175 points possible. I will send the person who scores the most points a championship trophy and will announce the top 5 scores next week. (No research or googling is allowed!). Even if you don't think you will fare well, if you make an attempt I will send you the answer key so that you can impress your friends and family during Sunday's game. Feel free to share with anyone you may know who is a sports fan. Good luck! (you'll need it)

Raring 2go! is a powerful brand for advertisers looking to target UK families with primary school children with a combined Print & Digital campaign. Combining Print & Digital Ads together make a Digital campaign 400% more effective! (Source* Top Media Advertising) Raring 2go! magazine is uniquely distributed at home time into Children's Book Bags via Primary Schools and offers hyper local editions by City or Town rather than just by region. It also targets 1.2m readers in a mid market adult 25-55 audience with a printed publication circulation of 400,000 every quarter. Print is still one of the most trusted forms of media only behind TV and while most businesses spend their full budget on digital advertising fighting for a millisecond of attention from 25-55 year olds - the average magazine reader is spending around 20minutes with the product in their hand! I am absolutely buzzing that the #Guildford edition of Raring2go! Magazine has been shortlisted in one of 18 categories in the ACE - Association of Circulation Executives Newspaper and Magazine awards 2024. Massive congratulations to the brilliant Gemma Heavens (Campbell) for creating an incredible regional title that has been deemed worthy of inclusion in these prestigious industry awards. Raring2go! Guildford is shortlisted in the Regional Publication of the Year – Sponsored by News Team Group…. a category with stiff competition. But please join me in congratulating Gemma for the seriously impressive achievement to date. #justbrilliant The awards ceremony takes place in May but I think Gemma is already a winner 👏👏👏 I can’t tell you how excited and proud I am.
