We shared an amazing Mechanical Engineer candidate with a prospective client... But in the end, we told them it wasn't a good time to partner up. Yes, we walked away from a new contract. Our candidate wasn't exactly who they needed. And the prospective client appreciated that! Instead of trying to fit a round peg into a square hole... (*like most recruiters do b/c of their commission breath) We took a step back and asked more in-depth questions about what their ideal candidate profile looks like. Now we have something to work with. An exact profile, that when we come across that type of candidate we know exactly who we're sending them to. Whether that's in 1 week or 1 year... We know we'll get them as a new client at that time. And more importantly, They will get the hire they need and they'll trust us a whole lot more moving forward.
