Clients trust their lawyers to represent them with the utmost professionalism. Clients expect them to be competent in their stated areas of practice. Every attorney should have a high-level understanding of applicable law. They should know how to navigate their respective court or administrative system. They should also engage in proper legal and business practices throughout the matter. What happens when a lawyer fails to meet their duty of competence and messes up a case?
