Transformative Catalyst Coach for Change | Maximising Human Potential | Improving Productivity & Performance | GC Partner | Hexitime Investor | Inclusivity, Accessibility & Young People Champion
So often, simple solutions can drive the behavioral change we seek. Over the weekend at the Exeter Half Marathon, a prime example caught my eye - the humble black bin. How can we prompt runners to discard their trash efficiently without impeding their performance? Here are some options: - A reminder to not litter, in the communications before and during the race. - Placing multiple bins along the route. - Deploying volunteers or council cleaners to pick up litter dropped on the ground. OR - Innovatively positioning a black bin with an open lid on the runners' path, balanced on a cardboard box. By tilting the opening, disposing of rubbish becomes effortless for the runners. This approach also adds a playful element, almost like a game, serving as a subtle reminder that they are winners, even with another mile to go. Whoever came up with this, understands people. Give us the path of least resistance and you've got us. 💡 What other great examples can you see around, that work, because of their simplicity? 💡 What could you apply this to, today? ✨️This is one technique we could use, when we speak next Monday, during our Catalyst Solution Session. 30 minutes anytime between 12 - 1pm. You choose. Find out more, and book here: https://lnkd.in/dg8vdddf #BehavioralChange #Innovation #ExeterHalfMarathon

"By thinking about how the destruction of bottom trawling would feel on land, we can understand the fear and devastation it wreaks on our marine protected areas." Award-winning nature filmmaker Tom Mustill on creating our recent campaign film, Trawl 🎬🌊 Bottom trawling: ☠️ kills marine wildlife, 🪸 decimates ocean habitats, and 🌎 unleashes trapped carbon, worsening the climate crisis. But because it happens below the surface and out of sight, it's hard to fully imagine the scale of destruction. Check out our full blog on bottom trawling below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eSgXAfRc

Great sign for the future of a sustainable fishery. If other businesses start talking about the global impacts of bottom, and mid-water, trawling this will shed needed light on this subject. Putting the emphasis on climate change will help clear up the climate change misinformation campaign being floated by Big Fish. As vessels increase in size so goes fuel consumption from water displacement and other factors. Targeting selective species reinforces sustainability because it helps eliminate much of the wanton waste that the bycatch produces. Smaller boats don't cause as much noise that the larger ships produce from engine use. So now the killer whales, and other species, can communicate and hunt more efficiently. Ocean noise pollution, is one of the factors in the Salish Sea, that is causing a decline in the endangered pod of Southern Resident Orcas. The only sound I like to hear, when I'm out on the ocean, is the triumphant call of "Fish On". Now we need to reach out to other fishing rod companies, raft and kayak manufacturers, and outdoor sports apparel companies to join the cause. What other companies, or ways, can we spread a unified message 🤔? One way I thought of would be to create a generic appeal letter to mail out to companies, media outlets and publications, and to anyone that would listen. Can you imagine the impact of having 30000 voices spread the same unified message? This is how you create a buzz about your dilemma on social media. We need to start trending the Big Fish takedown on social platforms. The trend of killing the Alaskan way of life needs to end! "When you write an appeal letter, include facts and documentation that help support your case. Your letter should be clear about what you want to have happen and what outcome you are seeking. If you don't get a response right away, follow up with a second message or a phone call to check on the status of your appeal.Oct 15, 2022". We are also at a time of war in the Pacific Theatre. We need to have all ship and boat traffic tracked in our coastal waters. All AIS information recorded and tracked. The higher the sound pollution the harder it is to hear vessels, submarines, within our zone. The State of Alaska just weakened the ability, of the United States Coast Guard, to enforce regulations on navigable waterways. Thank you Matt Miller, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, for the wonderful information that you kicked out the feds recently. Know we know whose going to be culpable for damages received from weakening federal powers. Bottom trawling is destroying our ocean floor.

🏇 Galloping Towards Net Zero 🏇 With over 300,000 racegoers attending, Royal Ascot is setting a prime example of how high-profile events can combine emission reductions with high-quality carbon removals to achieve net zero. Ascot partnered with CUR8 to remove 138 tonnes of carbon and mitigate emissions generated by the Net Zero Village Enclosure. This collaboration is an important step in Ascot's commitment to sustainability, aiming for a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2040. The Net Zero Village Enclosure welcomed over 20,000 attendees, proving that a globally revered event experience can be delivered while significantly reducing the climate impact. Supported by CUR8, Royal Ascot has invested in a diversified portfolio of carbon removals projects across the nature, hybrid, and technological spectrum, including world-leading projects such as 1PointFive (Direct Air Capture), UNDO (Enhanced Rock Weathering), and Loam Bio (Durable Soil Carbon). #Sustainability #NetZero #CarbonRemoval #Ascot #CUR8

Free advice, worth as much 😎, for all you aspiring bikepackers out there. Headed onto the Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy's GAP Trail next weekend, to enjoy a night at Round Bottom on the Youghiogheny River near Perryopolis PA and then further down the trail to the Eastern Continental Divide, to Frostburg MD, through the Big Savage Tunnel, and then that long descent into Cumberland MD. In the past, I have used a Big Agnes Inc Fly Creek 2-man backpacking tent, which is a great tent, though it is not freestanding and if you are like me and are packing a little extra weight and girth these days, I'd suggest it's basically a one man shelter. This time around, I intend to use a Mountain Hardwear AC 2 high altitude tent, because it will still be pretty cool in the evening, and I'm not so much worried about massive ventilation the way I would be at the height of summer. And it's a BOMBPROOF, free standing single wall shelter that is ridiculously compact and light for the unbelievable protection it provides. In future, I may use my other Mountain Hardwear Trango 2-man mountaineering tent, if I'm traveling with a companion and can split the load across two bicycles. As an alternative, I'd suggest for consider the newly released MSR - Mountain Safety Research Hubba Hubba BikePack 2-Person tent - it's more expensive than the comparable Big Agnes Inc Fly Creek, but it is free standing, which means a lot if you spend a lot of time on the road and are wiped out when it's late in the day, and you just want to get the tent up and relax. Well, as I say, it's all free advice, and worth as much.
