Product research: nailed it. But how much of Salomon's research will feed into their messaging? Here are the 3 key data points Salomon are ALREADY gathering that they should be sharing with their copywriters: ⚡ Past solutions ⚡ What other products and brands have participants used before? Did they work? What did they like/dislike about them? Getting these insights will allow Salomon to appeal to solution-aware prospects who are weighing up a pair of Thundercross trainers versus ASICS' Gel-Venture or New Balance's DynaSoft Nitrel v5s. ⚡ The role of fatigue ⚡ Salomon says they asked their testers about the role of fatigue in their experience. Asking them the short-term impact of fatigue can be utilised as email CTR-triggers, showing the immediate pay off for new prospects if they click through. And then discussing the long-term implications of fatigue can be useful for talking about the dreamstate of your prospects in the first line of your PDP copy. ⚡ The post-run interview ⚡ 2-hours into a marathon is famously the hardest part, when glycogen stores become depleted. Calves are burning. Bunions are rubbing. This is what us copywriters call the 'Moment of Highest Tension'. Asking runners to describe the hardest part of the run IMMEDIATELY after they've finished means the emotion is very fresh (and so can be easily recalled... as opposed to interviewing them 3 weeks after the race). What’s it take to pick a winning racehorse? 🐎 Many consider pedigree, temperament, the jockey, type of track, odds to win, etc. to include the less-strategic items such as name, color and number. And, in the end, how much are we leveraging skill vs luck? This is fairly similar to how business decisions are made at times- a lot of variables to consider, capabilities and expertise to leverage, data gathered for predictions and proof, but sometimes it includes a bit of luck with timing, alignment, fit, and relationships. The benefits of combining both are shown here with our ITA Group team having fun at the Del Mar track! We all had different strategies and we each had some winners but more importantly we enjoyed being together…and with a little luck, will plan it again sometime soon! Every racing team member commits to and holds each other accountable to speed. To completing their leg of the race in the shortest amount of time possible. Speed is the commitment. 3. Racing teams discuss and negotiate strategies to meet their goals. Negotiate strategies, not time. 4. The rules of the race are like the quality standards.
