What would having "Foursite" mean to your projects? By combining our Transport Planning, Geo-Environmental, Infrastructure and Structural Engineering services in a joined up approach, we can help our clients to unlock site constraints and realise the development potential of their assets, so that potential issues can be addressed before construction. If some foresight would help your developments (you see what we did there... 😀) get in touch with us for a Foursite assessment and report. https://lnkd.in/eJ8r9APg #WeAreCurtins #BuildingABetterFuture #TransportPlanning #geoenvironmental #infrastructure #structuralengineering

"The concept of ‘smart’ – irrespective of the discipline it’s considered within – is often contested, and poorly understood. When we start talking about the possibilities in the construction sector, we encounter a wild divergence of opinions as to the progress being made in enhancing the buildings of the future with technology." In this piece for the New Civil Engineer, Charlotte Markey DipCIM, our Green Urbanisation Innovation Manager, discusses the value of smart products, smart systems and the implications for future resilience. Driving Digital Transformation | Translating Insights into Action | Strategic Planning & Business Storyteller | Architecting Growth
Such an amazing and insightful post. She brings up an extremely interesting and significant point. Unclear, misguided, or poorly managed initiatives and projects can be afflicted by severe delays (for a variety of factors). These effects can be astronomical and cause an exponential rise in costs. However, those costs are nothing compared to the repercussions of losing a vital or critical asset that we end up taking for granted. In So Cal, people regularly joke about if Interstate 10 will ever be fixed. I was there last December, 4 years after relocating, and I'm sad to report that it is still under construction. This of course, doesn't include the 35 years I lived there, or whenever the construction was started. I'm in TN now and often amazed or in shock & awe to see projects started and finished, especially when it's only been a few or couple weeks since I've been through a certain area and you can tell a project was freshly completed. We need to do better. I'm hopeful the infrastructure bill will do some good and it wasn't for naught. #AEC #ACEC #infrastructure #ironorbit #INFINITYworkspaces
Do you think we should build more freeways and bridges? What about our aging infrastructure? Karen Tatman, P.E., a leader at CONSOR Engineers tells us the price of delay and delivers a sobering wake-up call. 🏗️ Check out the full video at https://ow.ly/quug50Qi3fR #ACECOregon #BuildForTheFuture #Engineering #InfrastructureMatters #Construction

The transportation network is the backbone of any thriving economy. Roads, in particular, bear the brunt of connecting people, places, and resources. However, building and maintaining robust roads in diverse terrains and weather conditions often poses significant challenges. Fortunately, the field of civil engineering has witnessed a revolutionary development in recent years called geosynthetic materials.
