#Latepost Materializing the Green Promise Via Green Hydrogen . Quite an eventful week at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition @ Rotterdam. One could clearly see that Hydrogen is expected to make a significant contribution towards the reduction of CO2 emissions in the shipping, mobility and industrials sectors and eventually contribute towards meeting the green goals/promise. However, many project developers have found it to be very challenging to arrive at profitable business cases. Announced projects have been cancelled or delayed and some governments are considering lowering their initial targets. Many OEM’s are struggling to understand what the true demand for their electrolysers /technologies are. However not everything is doom & gloom ,there were some good takeaways from the event as well. 🚢 ⚓ The shipping sector is picking up interest from across the hydrogen industry. Given the event is held in Rotterdam, port operators have always been strongly represented at the event, emphasizing future global trade routes for H2 & derivatives. IMO regulations will also help this transition/demand.The addition of the maritime sector as a separate sub-sector under the #EuropeanHydrogenBank has also marked this increased momentum. ⌛ The last 18 months have solidified the much-needed European regulatory framework around hydrogen, however, how these will be implemented into National Law remains a challenge to deploy projects. The market is now carefully timing when off taker demand will solidify, to ramp up production & capacities. 📈 As the flood of new hydrogen project announcements are dampened, companies are starting to prioritize their core priorities, with a strong focus on deliverability. As a hydrogen price benchmark evolves, we are already seeing some projects struggling to compete and pausing or cancelling their plans. This clearly signals start of a consolidation phase for the hydrogen market. 🥇 💪 We are starting to see some players differentiating themselves from the pack, by advancing large-scale projects through close collaboration across stakeholders in the value chain. The commitment of leading electrolyser suppliers into the Spanish Green Hydrogen Valley & The Australian government announcement of an A$ 2/kg production tax credit to be available from 2027, putting Australia back into the global hydrogen race. ⛳ 🤝We continued to see new companies exhibiting, and the number of international manufacturers and delegations increasing in presence/engagement – stand out was the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) stall at India/Bharath 🇮🇳 Pavilion.
Well Articulated Suraj!
Very good summary Suraj P.K, need to wait and watch how India is going to position itself in global market against china
Suraj P.K This is for sure the future of Power resource for the industry and expecting India 🇮🇳 to lead in this ….
Thanks for sharing Suraj P.K! It was quite informative for me - as an outsider. Al good things start in Holland 😉 . Do hope you enjoyed your time there. All the best! R.B.
Good summary, Suraj!
Semiconductor, Solar, Green Hydrogen, Project management, Engineering, Decarbonized energy
5moNice capture. No new industry will stand without government support or legislation. It also shows the power of oil lobby who still would slow down green energy... Green steel, refining hydrogen as energy storage/ ammonia as shipping fuel will be successful only if political establishment in each region support it for long term
