EverWind Fuels and the Port of Rotterdam recently signed an agreement, which stated that through the use of green hydrogen, both companies would work towards establishing an international hub. These goals include the Port of Rotterdam having plans to create an international hub for hydrogen production, import, application and finally, transport to places such as other countries within Northwest Europe. The article below depicts a new project which will focus on two companies combining their efforts to create an international hub. This emphasises how important the production of hydrogen is and it also displays the necessity for the companies to support the production of hydrogen. #Latepost Materializing the Green Promise Via Green Hydrogen . Quite an eventful week at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition @ Rotterdam. One could clearly see that Hydrogen is expected to make a significant contribution towards the reduction of CO2 emissions in the shipping, mobility and industrials sectors and eventually contribute towards meeting the green goals/promise. However, many project developers have found it to be very challenging to arrive at profitable business cases. Announced projects have been cancelled or delayed and some governments are considering lowering their initial targets. Many OEM’s are struggling to understand what the true demand for their electrolysers /technologies are. However not everything is doom & gloom ,there were some good takeaways from the event as well. 🚢 ⚓ The shipping sector is picking up interest from across the hydrogen industry. Given the event is held in Rotterdam, port operators have always been strongly represented at the event, emphasizing future global trade routes for H2 & derivatives. IMO regulations will also help this transition/demand.The addition of the maritime sector as a separate sub-sector under the #EuropeanHydrogenBank has also marked this increased momentum. ⌛ The last 18 months have solidified the much-needed European regulatory framework around hydrogen, however, how these will be implemented into National Law remains a challenge to deploy projects. The market is now carefully timing when off taker demand will solidify, to ramp up production & capacities. 📈 As the flood of new hydrogen project announcements are dampened, companies are starting to prioritize their core priorities, with a strong focus on deliverability. As a hydrogen price benchmark evolves, we are already seeing some projects struggling to compete and pausing or cancelling their plans. This clearly signals start of a consolidation phase for the hydrogen market. 🥇 💪 We are starting to see some players differentiating themselves from the pack, by advancing large-scale projects through close collaboration across stakeholders in the value chain. The commitment of leading electrolyser suppliers into the Spanish Green Hydrogen Valley & The Australian government announcement of an A$ 2/kg production tax credit to be available from 2027, putting Australia back into the global hydrogen race. ⛳ 🤝We continued to see new companies exhibiting, and the number of international manufacturers and delegations increasing in presence/engagement – stand out was the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) stall at India/Bharath 🇮🇳 Pavilion.

A combined effort between Australia’s national science agency CSIRO and Swinburne University of Technology’s Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) has created the development of a new hydrogen refuelling station. The new site will be based in Australia, in Victoria and it has been built with the purpose of conducting research as well as refuelling vehicles. This article portrays how a company is continuing to research a certain technology whilst that technology is in use within society. This provides both the researchers, the consumers and the environment with multiple benefits, as rather than waiting to continue, by using real world use as research, the company will get much more accurate results and the improvements can be made faster. Senior EVP, and President and CEO of GX (Green Transformation) Solutions, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
Demand for #hydrogen in APAC is expected to rise further as countries like Singapore, South Korea and Japan continue exploring their use in decarbonizing industries such as #powergeneration, #steel, chemicals and #transportation. As a potential hydrogen superpower in the region, Australia could help meet this demand and accelerate the region’s #energytransition – but more public and private partnerships and support are needed to realize this. I shared this in my keynote speech at the Connecting Green Hydrogen APAC 2024 conference in Melbourne last week, where discussions were focused on shaping Australia and APAC’s hydrogen future. It was good to connect with our key stakeholders there in person once more, and I look forward to strengthening our collaborations to bolster Australia’s hydrogen efforts.

🌍 What’s at stake for Europe’s green hydrogen ambitions? The EU's recent initiative to implement 'Made in Europe' criteria for hydrogen production is stirring up quite a conversation. While the intention is to bolster European manufacturers, some industry leaders are concerned that these anti-Chinese electrolyser measures could inadvertently drive up costs for renewable hydrogen. Imagine trying to build a greener future while facing increased expenses—it's a delicate balance. The move is designed to strengthen local production and reduce reliance on imports, but at what cost? Key Insights: Increased Costs: Some developers fear that by prioritizing European-made technology, we might inflate the already high costs of renewable hydrogen production. Market Dynamics: This could lead to a situation where European companies struggle to compete on price, potentially stalling the very growth the EU aims to promote. Global Collaboration: As the world races towards a low-carbon future, how do we ensure that local measures do not isolate us from international advancements and partnerships? 💬 What do you think? Will these measures help spark innovation, or could they hinder the progress we desperately need in the green hydrogen sector? Let’s discuss your thoughts in the comments! Together, we can navigate the complexities of this evolving landscape and work towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. 🌱 https://lnkd.in/di_DrSvd
