Kering BALENCIAGA can we apply what the ancient Romans used to say “errare humanum est, perseverare autem diabolicum”? Or is it more “per aspera ad astra?” What do you think of this haute couture? Will this positively impact the brand and the group business? What shall we expect for results Q2 and Half 2024? Will sticking to this strategy prove the management is creating value and business around the brand? #brandmanagement

Kering unveils details from BALENCIAGA’s 53rd Couture Collection, presented at the salons de Couture located 10 avenue George V in Paris. Balenciaga 53rd Couture Collection, Looks 15 & 17. Crafted in the Balenciaga ateliers, this t-shirt presented as part of the 53rd Couture Collection took 70 hours to hand-paint. Its motif is meant to recall music merch. To make the top true Couture, it was assembled in cotton terry molleton, cut, sewn, stonewashed, and faded entirely by hand. Its total assembly time is about 140 hours. A true testament to the Maison’s craftsmanship. Following the presentation in Paris, a selection of pieces is available via exclusive release at the Balenciaga Couture Store located below the House's salons and ateliers Discover the full Balenciaga 53rd Couture Collection on couture.balenciaga.com

If Balenciaga wanted to create a kind of buzz (as usual) with the so-called Haute Couture, it probably worked… sorry I do not adhere at all to this collection nor to the so-called work of construction (Japanese do it much much better)! I feel even more a kind of insult to the craftsmanship and the ateliers! I ignore if this has any positive impact on the brand image, probably for part of the fashion sphere and some celebs, influencers - who may I recall, do not pay for the outfits they are wearing but instead are paid to wear them… Nicole Kidman and Michele Yeoh both recent Balenciaga’s brand ambassador did not wear any of these pants nor t-shirts nor hats while attending the show… and will probably never… It’s time fashion awakens and stops presenting trash because it is so boring

I'll let you decide... Exhibit One: A May 28th public review paints a troubling picture: "Purchased a bag which ripped apart on first couple of uses, the team has stopped responding and kept our original product since 3 months." This isn't an isolated incident. Exhibit Two: The data further reveals: → 87%+ of BALENCIAGA's customer touchpoints exhibit a significant disconnect. → This translates to over half a billion euros in lost customer loyalty and revenue. Imagine the potential if Kering's executive team instead invested just 140 hours to address these issues. The clear improvements could unlock €500M, driving significant growth and restoring confidence in the brand. If only they could see it...

What is Balenciaga about any of this? All I heard was a narration on materials used and time spent. When did Cristobal ever cover such aspects of his creations? Exactly never. He didn’t need to. His creations spoke for themselves...

Justification of “craftsmanship”? I’m quite curious about the retail price, if it is going to sell at the retail boutiques?!
