Today, James Blake (Alliance Redwoods CEO) and I had the honor to meet with Dr. Maxine Burkett, Assistant Director for Climate, Ocean, and Equity, Executive Office of the President, The White House. We discussed how ecotourism can be the engine to promote cultural, socioeconomic, financial and environmental sustainability for ethnic and indigenous peoples in Latin America. These efforts may contribute in creating climate resilient communities, which is crucial to tackle climate change at the local level. Governments must adopt ecotourism as part of the new development model/growth, and relying less con extraction but to invest more on green and blue economies.

🌊🐠 Coral reefs are one of the most vital and fragile ecosystems on the planet. Since 2009, we have lost 14% of these ecosystems due to rising sea temperatures, affecting millions of people who rely on them for their livelihood and protection. 🌱 Companies have a crucial responsibility in preserving these ecosystems, as their industrial activities often contribute to reef degradation. 🌍 Protecting coral reefs is not just an environmental issue but also an economic one. These ecosystems generate significant revenue through tourism and fishing and act as natural barriers that protect coastlines from storms and tsunamis. Companies can take proactive measures to reduce their environmental impact, implement sustainable practices, and support conservation projects. 💚 At GreenSouls, we are committed to coral reef restoration through initiatives such as creating coral nurseries and planting coral fragments. We collaborate with companies that wish to integrate sustainability into their business strategies and generate a positive environmental impact. Our experience and dedication ensure that every project has tangible and lasting results.

The potential use of grey sites in the green belt for housing and development has been unlocked in limited circumstances. When this is the right solution to local development needs, how imaginatively and sensitively can we use these areas?
