Synergy Academies in Los Angeles welcomed the CFE back on campus recently for a #MadCityMoney event. It’s become an annual tradition and this year 110 seniors completed the simulation learning activity. There were the usual eye-opening moments as students realized the realities of living within a budget, saving, and paying off debt. Many thanks to those who came to help as volunteers, including the Academy’s CEO Rhonda Deomampo, Synergy teachers and staff and SCE Credit Union Team Members! As is always the case, the MCM event made an impact. Here’s what some of the students had to say: The most important thing I learned today was to prioritize my needs over my wants. – Lizbeth I learned the hard way that you have to buy the needed things before going off to buy an expensive car. - Kevin We learned about budgeting in class but this made it more real to life. – Steven This activity helped me learn a lot I didn’t know about credit, such as making more than the minimum payment and keeping a high credit score. – Bryan Volunteers and donors in Southern California and Southern Nevada are the backbone of our nonprofit.
