PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OF YANGON ( YANGON BUS SERVICES -YBS) In modern transit systems, technology plays a pivotal role. It enhances efficiency, safety, and user experience. In South East Asia, Myanamr ( Yangon ) stands out in an unique position after Singapore to have successfully integrated all the technologies mentioned underneath. Technology in transit not only simplifies the travel process but also adds layers of safety and convenience and understanding them will enhance your travel experience and builds up your confidence. They are as follows:- 1.GPS (Global Positioning System). A system that uses satellites to provide location and time information. All Bus operators in Yangon uses a backend telematics software platform to monitor their respectivefleets. 2.YPS Card (Automatic Fare collection). A reusable smart card used for electronic ticketing in public transport, especially in Yangon. 3.QR CODE (MPYps App) . QR codes ( Quick Response codes) are two dimensional codes that you can scan with a smartphone. The code contains information, like URL, contact data, calendar data, email addresses, phone numbers, plain text, and geolocations. 4.Contactless Payment. A method of paying for services with an IC Card, or mobile device without physical contact. 5.BUS LED ( Yangon Bus Media) . A digital screen that shows transit awareness and entertainment for bus passengers. 6.Public Address System. An electronic system used for making announcements in public areas. Bus stop announcement services. 7.Surveillance System. Cameras and equipment used for monitoring activities inside and outside of the buses. 8.Automatic Door. Doors, especially in trains or buses, that open and close automatically. 9.Bus Stops. In Yangon more than 90% of the bus stops have been converted to a modernized bus stops, with a a shade and proper sitting arrangement. #Intelligenttransportation #integratedtechnology #safetyforpassengers #security #automaticfarecollection #CCTV #POS #Modernisedbusstops #busmedia #yangonbusmedia #yangonpaymentservice #YBS #Yangonbusservices #Telematicsplatform #transportwallet

🚉 Did you Know? How Japan Uses QR Codes to Keep Train Doors Safe 🚦 In Japan, train safety isn’t just about speed and efficiency—it’s about keeping passengers safe at every step, especially when doors open and close. Here’s where QR codes come in! 1. QR codes are placed on the platform and near train doors. 2. When a train stops, sensors check these codes to make sure the train and doors are perfectly aligned. 3. If anything is off, the doors won’t close until it’s safe. Why This Matters: • Prevents accidents: No more doors closing when people are in the way. • Simple but effective: A low-cost solution with a big safety impact. • Trustworthy system: Passengers can travel with peace of mind. This is just another example of how Japan combines smart technology with everyday solutions to make life safer and better for everyone. Would you like to see tech like this in your country’s transport system? In the early 2000s, Seoul’s private-sector-operated bus #service encountered issues such as overloaded buses, reckless driving, and late arrival, which contributed to a decline in bus use. In 2004, the #city #government began managing bus routes and operations, and pooling revenues for redistribution among bus companies. The system improved service satisfaction by 32%, on-time arrival by 4.6%, and bus ridership by 9.4%. 🟠 READ https://buff.ly/3TZjbv1 #SDG10 #SDG11

Here is a bus stop in Busan, South Korea, a digital signboard displays real-time bus schedules. It was simple but highly effective—providing accurate arrival times and updates. It show that South Korea is way more advanced compared to Singapore in technology adoption for public transportation and commuter experiences. Singapore needs to do more for the transport system. South Korea’s seamless integration of technology into everyday services could inspire us to push boundaries. Could we leverage advanced AI to predict and respond to fluctuations in demand more dynamically? Or introduce more interactive systems at bus stops to guide commuters in real-time, especially in areas less connected to MRT networks? Another key area is accessibility. As we adopt smarter systems, how do we ensure they remain inclusive for everyone, from the elderly to tourists who may not be tech-savvy? These aren’t massive leaps—they’re incremental improvements that focus on usability, accessibility, and efficiency. With clear goals and a collaborative approach, I believe Singapore can match or even set new standards in public transport technology over the next five years. It starts with the will to innovate and a commitment to serve every commuter better.

Our project #HKeToll received the Silver Award in the Smart Mobility category at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2024. In collaboration with Transport Department, HKSAR Government and Autotoll Limited, we delivered the first multi-lane free-flow tolling system for Hong Kong – HKeToll. It is one of the latest smart mobility initiatives as promulgated in the Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint, aimed at utilising technologies to enhance the overall efficiency of the transport system in the city. By using Radio Frequency Identification technology with the support of Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology, motorists can pay toll remotely without having to stop at manual toll booths or passing through tolled traffic lanes. When a vehicle passes through the toll point, the system will automatically detect the vehicle and collect the toll through toll tag or vehicle registration mark. HKeToll has been implemented smoothly at all government tolled tunnels and the Tsing Sha Control Area, becoming the primary toll collection system for all vehicles passing through tunnels. It also facilitated the implementation of Time Varying Toll to rationalise the traffic flows at the three road harbour crossings since December 2023, achieving an apparent reduction of peak hour traffic queues. Smart elevators improve train passenger transport Since the Jerusalem-Yitzhak Navon train station opened in 2018, the number of passengers has tripled. Even though the station has three large elevators, the current setup can't handle the load: given that the lower platform is 80 meters underground, it takes 8 minutes to reach the ground floor escalator, while an elevator ride takes only 25 seconds. As such, Electra Elevators is developing a solution to make the passenger transport process smarter and faster. It is installing cameras with special sensors in the station’s upper and lower lobbies that can count the number of people in real time. The information is then processed in the cloud with software developed with the elevator maker Otis. The software makes decisions based on Israel Railways parameters. Depending on the load in the field, it can direct the elevator control panels and decide whether and how to apply a special arrangement. For example, if 60 people are waiting in the lower platform lobby while no passengers are waiting on the ground floor to go down, the system will send two elevators to the lower platform. It also enables the train crew to connect to a reporting system in the cloud and monitor station traffic from any mobile phone or computer. #smartelevators #smartsolutions #trainstation
