The most troubling aspect of the notification process is that doctors are treated as guilty before they have an opportunity to respond, while the complainant faces no repercussions for belligerence, rudeness or dehumanizing behavior towards the health professional - in my case - doctors. Furthermore, AHPRA absolves itself of responsibility for the complaint (regardless of how belligerent or dehumanising the letter of complaint is) by merely suggesting, "You can seek support via... ABC, etc." An easy fix would be to filter the complaint to facts - which doesn’t seem to happen even in 2024 with AI being available to assist. The entire process appears designed to undermine health professionals rather than serve as a mechanism to identify areas for improvement and provide support, further promoting aggression against health professionals without any repercussions. It is no surprise that - strategically board has less health professionals on it - I wonder whether this is a significant factor in the persistence in the culture of blame rather than accountability and transparency.
