This is a great interview. If value based care is based on outcomes, then preventative care is only one piece of the pie (did you develop the disease or no). that is a pretty clear metric. The second part of value based care is ensuring that there is an understanding of a metric that is valuable to all parties involved. I hope that there is more talk and exposure about this part. which also makes me think, would a good clear example of value based care be smoking cessation? Stop smoking, prevent cancer, pay out, etc.

Fees for more diluted and lesser care is killing our patients and our physician workforce.   Value is something we simply don’t offer very much any more.
