In our lead research piece this week, the Nuffield Foundation proposes policy initiatives to prevent an otherwise inevitable widening of the attainment gap, continuing into the 2030s. Socioeconomic disadvantage leading to a shortfall in attainment is something that has to be tackled on many fronts, and the study provides some urgent and concrete suggestions from university-led tutoring, to a greater focus on teacher wellbeing.
