Happy International Day of Happiness! 🎉 Today we raise a glass to all of our happy colleagues, 🥂 and here's to brighter smiles and lighter hearts! Celebrate with us on this International Day of Happiness. In the ebbs and flows of our vibrant North Wales, today especially reminds us to savor joy in each moment. It's a day that connects us all, from the majestic heights of Snowdon to the beautiful coastlines of Anglesey. Amid these celebrations, let's highlight the magic of teamwork! My experiences have shown me the incredible growth that springs from working collaboratively. When we unite, blending our unique talents and uplifting each other, happiness isn't just a solitary flicker — it transforms into a magnificent blaze of shared success. Fascinatingly, joyful teams not only feel better but perform better as well. A UK study indicates that teams brimming with happiness can enhance productivity by up to 12%. This brings benefits beyond the balance sheets; it enriches our very beings. So today, let's act on the promise of positivity and togetherness. Make the move to connect, help out, or ignite laughter. Happiness has the power to spread, and as a team, there's nothing we can't do! #InternationalDayOfHappiness #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #ShareJoy ✨

Wow......... The month of February marks the end of my time with the brilliant company that is Galliford Try and 15 years in the FM industry. Having worked in business banking for several years, and seeing 'Fred the Shred' effectively take my bonus away in 2009 it was time for a change. A meeting out of the blue in Waterloo one Friday morning in March 2009 with Andy Glasspool and Danny Pilgrim opened the door for a career in FM. I knew nothing about FM, procurement, dealing with supply chains, managing a workforce or working in Europe but that was the chance these 2 people gave me, something I will always be very grateful for. I remember one day sitting on my bed in a hotel in Prague the day before I was about to support the mobilisation of an EMEA contract thinking 'what am I doing'... Fast forward 15 years and I only have great words to say about the people I have met, people I have worked with, contracts I have managed and places I have worked. When you try and explain what your job is to people who have no idea what an FM/ Contract Manager is they are overwhelmed with what's involved on a daily basis - people who work in the industry know only too well what's involved..😬 My time with Galliford Try Facilities Management has been by far my most rewarding time in FM. My colleagues who have become great friends, managers like Gerard Mockler who is always there to support you, and Steven Catlin who has encouraged training and development to further our own careers, have made it a great place to work. Sometimes things happen in life which make you take a step back and think 'what is it all about' - unfortunately, I've had a few of those in the last 4 years. Based on this I made the decision to take a fairly new challenge away from FM, which allows me to do things I haven't before. The work life balance scenario has really come to the forefront of working life in recent times and I'm going to embrace it. My new challenge is my other passion - White Dog Events Ltd - an events business I have been running outside of work (very early mornings before work, late nights after work and pretty much all of my annual leave) for the past 10 years. A bit scary going from employed to on my own but the hard work I have put in over the past 10 years is really starting to pay off to the point I can now do what I'm doing. https://lnkd.in/eKb5mnkP It would be wrong not to plug my business whilst writing this so..... if your looking for a company away day/ offsite, wedding, hen/stag do, family get away, team building venue, etc - please get in touch Info@whitedogeventsltd.co.uk Thankyou to everyone who has contributed to my time in the industry, FM is like no other industry and certainly no 2 days are the same..! Maybe one day I will return, but for now I can't wait to be working in my new office environment - outside during the warmer months with my AirPods in 👍🏼

"Give your brain a quality alternative" This quote from Cal Newport's book "Deep Work" signifies the importance of having engaging and fulfilling activities during your leisure time. The idea is that if you have high-quality alternatives to mindlessly browsing the internet or social media, you'll be less likely to succumb to distraction when trying to focus on deep work. By replacing shallow activities with stimulating ones, you can: -Preserve your ability to concentrate: Deep work requires sustained focus. Engaging in leisure activities can help train your brain to resist distraction and maintain concentration for longer periods. -Experience a more fulfilling life: Newport suggests that quality alternatives can lead to a richer and more meaningful life, going beyond simply existing and filling free time with mindless entertainment. The book argues that cultivating a strong preference for deep work and high-quality leisure activities is a powerful combination for success in today's information. What's your take on this? #lessons #deepworkbook
