Hello friends! 🙋♀️ Since stepping down as the executive director of The Women's Impact Alliance last fall, I've been contemplating where I can be most useful. After much reflection, I've realized that the world urgently needs a revival of civil discourse. 🌍💬 To bring civil discourse back to life, we must bring it out of the academic realm, which can be inaccessible to many. We must extract it from the divisive realm of politics and remove it from the outrage-driven mainstream media. In short, for civil discourse to prevail, it must once again find its place around our kitchen tables. That's why I'm excited to announce the launch of my new newsletter, "Common Ground"! Each week, I'll share insights on what's holding civil discourse back and provide practical tools for constructive dialogue. It's a small start, but I'm hoping that this tiny acorn will find sunlight and fertile soil to sprout. 🌱 My first post landed on Substack today, I'd be glad if you'd take a read about my reasonings and plans for starting "Common Ground" - https://lnkd.in/gKAWqG7W Would you like to get involved? 1. Please sign up for "Common Ground"! I'd be thrilled to have your support. ❤️ 2. Share the newsletter with your friends and family who might be interested. I'm eager to engage with diverse perspectives, I think we all need to work harder to break out of our own echo chambers. The big question I want to answer is: Can we return to a respectful exchange of ideas to improve society? I intend to try, and I encourage you to join me. 🙌 Let's find common ground together! In a moment that demands introspection and growth, Dr. Ruby Ababio-Fernandez, our Executive Vice President of Programming and Development, challenges us to confront our discomfort head-on. As we navigate conversations on race, the theme of last year's Courageous Conversation® National Summit, 'We Hold These Truths...', echoes a vital question. Are we genuinely embracing equality or finding excuses to remain stagnant? How are we moving forward in our journey toward understanding and justice?

Because it’s 2024… I was honoured to participate in a lively discussion Friday at Urban Partners just as we entered Pride Weekend in Copenhagen. Together with Gry Gronenberg from Urban Partners, Louise Sjøntoft from NCC, Ezra Leader from 3XN/GXN and moderated by Frederik Nagel Fryland, we discussed the question – ‘How do we get to the end of the Rainbow?’ with a focus on LGBTQ+ in Danish Real Estate. As Chair of ULI Denmark, I was able to celebrate the ULI Platform on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Through robust initiatives, it seeks not only to show why this is important for companies in real estate to reflect on – but also how to implement some concrete policies in our respective organizations. ULI Europe has participated in a ground breaking survey which spans across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, gathering information from nearly 300 real estate companies with over a trillion dollars under real estate management. This survey has concrete DEI goals & objectives; along with a list of the 10 most impactful policies. Quite frankly, a DEI policy is very much about attraction and retention of talent – but more importantly, it’s about people. Respect, Belonging and Meaning. Through the entire talent ecosystem of access, hiring, belonging and elevation; a DEI strategy is empowering for any company in real estate (or any other sector) that wishes to reflect society. If interested, check out how DEI is underpinning ULI mission priorities: https://lnkd.in/dARWqe2u and the global real estate DEI survey: https://lnkd.in/d2V8TKzj
