These Roundtables aim to foster dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of experiences to address shared challenges, promote mutual support, and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. These roundtables will contribute to the development of a sector-wide offering in the form of a comprehensive report. 🔍 Clarification: - For the April 11th Leaders Roundtable, leaders are defined as C and D suite executives (CEOs, Presidents, Directors, Boards). Earlier this week, several WTCA Members participated in a panel discussion on "Leading International Strategies at the Local Level" at the International Economic Development Council Leadership Summit in Phoenix, Arizona. Tim Nowak (Executive Director, World Trade Center St. Louis) moderated the panelists comprised of Stephen Cheung (CEO & President, World Trade Center Los Angeles), Melissa A. Miller (Director, World Trade Center Kansas City), Denise Thomas (CEO, World Trade Center Arkansas) and Rodney Crim (CEO & President, St. Louis Economic Development Partnership). The panelists shared WTC success stories on how the WTCA license transformed their local economies, and how their innovative strategies have facilitated thriving trade, foreign investment, and immigration efforts at the grassroots level. They discussed how World Trade Center-branded businesses are a valuable resource for economic development organizations and chambers, and how to leverage a WTCA license for effective global engagement, increased exposure and advocacy. Interesting perspectives. However, I believe no matter how "romantic" this presentation might be to entice the African countries, we must admit that there's need to do more by the African citizens and African leaders. The level of poverty amidst vast natural and human resources is unconscionable and exacerbating. It's an invitation to calamity and continuous deception when we do not admit that we have problems and there's need to do better with and by ourselves just because there's a statistic that proved Africa is a minute part of the World's population regarding poor people. In contrast, it's a call to action for Africans and our leaders to realized that our population, therefore, shouldn't be an excuse. We should do better with our economic and human assets.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Network connects the next generation of African leaders with resources designed to enhance leadership skills, bolster entrepreneurship, and connect young African leaders with one another. Mission Showcase a new generation of young African leaders shaping the continent’s future. Reinforce the U.S. commitment to fostering two-way dialogue between the United States and African youth. Help young people in Africa develop skills and networks to build brighter futures for their communities and countries. The YALI Network is one of three pillars of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), the U.S. Government’s signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. Africa’s significant youth population represents an invaluable resource for the continent. YALI was launched in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa. The YALI Network is managed by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs.
