Well worth remembering: donors are people and gifts are just one expression of a successful relationship that needs to be ongoing and meaningful to elicit positive change in society. These metrics help to highlight that and we should remember that each gift is the beginning of something, not the final goal.
I wanted to share a bit from a webinar I attended yesterday. Donors take their time to make major gifts. According to data from Blackbaud, the average first contact to first major gift is 7.8 years, almost twice as long as the average development officer's tenure at an organization. It takes time to earn the trust of a donor. It takes time to find their passion. It takes time.... Donors aren't ATMs, so don't treat them like they are. #philanthropy #fundraising

Fundraising Consultant | Helping mid-sized nonprofit teams ($1-5MM) communicate their story to donors so they raise more money and have more impact.
From streaming services to your favorite food to your door to ride services. We’ve grown accustomed to instant availability. Not all things can be attained instantly though. 👉Professional services, like marketing and fundraising, often require a longer ramp-up period before they produce results. If you’re an organization that relies on immediate outcomes, that can be really frustrating. But please remember, donors are people, not piggy banks. There is no magic phrase, formula, or strategy that is going to make people give to you other than building trust in your relationships over time. Sometimes that trust is built quickly. Sometimes it’s not. Tomorrow I am going to talk about 3 ways for fundraisers to “feel the win” even while you’re waiting for those big end results. - Hi, I’m Madeline McCoy Let’s talk #fundraising, #marketing, and #nonprofit

Last week, Anick Silencieux from Support Black Charities shared a workshop with our team on Black Philanthropy in Canada. One central theme throughout Anick’s presentation was the importance of uplifting and elevating your community. This is a common motivation for why people give, and it left us with some reflections that we wanted to share with you: 👉 What does elevating my community mean to me? 👉 How can I incorporate elevating my community into my charitable giving? 👉 What steps can I take to get started?
