"Did you know? Over 40% of plastic trash is single-use, like grocery bags, drinking bottles, straws, and food wrappers. This leads to millions of animal deaths every year, from birds to fish and other aquatic life. Let's refuse to pollute the ocean with every meal, drink, or shopping trip. They don't have a choice, but we do. Make your choice a plastic-free one. Let's reduce, reuse, and clean up our act for a healthier planet!" Do you know that dolphins, fish, sharks, turtles, seabirds and crabs are vulnerable to harm from plastic debris in the ocean? Additionally, animals also mistake small plastic debris for food or become entangled in or strangled by plastic bags and discarded fishing nets. This is why @keeptheoceancleaninitiative is investing heavily to educate maritime stakeholders and coastal communities on the dangers of marine pollution. Together we can save our ocean and marine lives..

Twelve million tonnes of plastic debris are dumped into the ocean annually, and the amount of plastic garbage in it is growing daily. The fact that the entire ecosystem is impacted is worse. The picture below shows how fishing is done these days; half of the catch is made up of trash and plastic. As a result, a large number of marine animals are in danger of going extinct. #oceanplastic #savetheocean #saynotoplastic

🌊🌿 On this #WorldOceansDay, let's address a common misconception about ocean plastic pollution. While straws are often highlighted, did you know that 50% of ocean plastic actually comes from fishing nets? 🐠🦈 These "ghost nets" continue to harm marine life long after they've been discarded. By raising awareness and supporting sustainable fishing practices, we can make a real difference in protecting our oceans. 🌏💙 Join us in advocating for cleaner seas and healthier marine ecosystems. Together, we can turn the tide on ocean plastic pollution. 🌊🌟 #OceanConservation #EndPlasticPollution #SustainableFishing #SaveOurSeas #ProtectMarineLife

Take action for animals and the environment! Read more below: Care2Petition states: People often think it's fun to intentionally release balloons into the sky, thinking it looks pretty and celebratory. But the truth is that wayward balloons are deadly for animals and horrible for the environment. After these stretchy pieces of plastic return to the Earth or the seas, unsuspecting animals often mistake it for food, stuffing themselves with these toxic chemical-based products. Their bodies can't break down the material, leaving it stuck inside them forever. Even worse: balloons fill up animals' stomachs, making them think they've eaten enough... so they starve to death. 🎈Sign the petition here: https://buff.ly/4d10yPs [image description: A bird in the middle of the ocean with their beak towards a discarded balloon with text that reads: Sign the petition: Ban the intention releasing of balloons now! Balloon debris kills animals and builds up microplastic waste in the environment.]

Say no to littering Littering may appear harmless at first, but that small act of flicking a candy wrapper or soda can can have a huge impact on our environment. Here's why we should think twice before tossing trash: 1. Wildlife Woes: Animals often mistake litter for food, which can lead to sickness or even death. Plastic bags resemble jellyfish, and tangled fishing lines can trap innocent creatures. Let's preserve the wildness of wildlife, not fill it with waste! 2. Water Woes: When rain washes trash into rivers and oceans, littered streets turn into polluted waterways. This plastic soup harms fish, birds, and ultimately ends up in the seafood we consume! Let's protect our aquatic ecosystems. 3. Unsightly Spaces: Litter tarnishes the beauty of our parks, beaches, and forests. It takes away from the natural splendor that we all cherish. Let's work together to keep our communities clean and green! Remember, every piece of trash we pick up is a victory for our planet. So let's break the littering habit and become recycling champions! Together, we can make a difference. #environment #recycle
