This is Sulaiman's story + an Easter message... 12 years ago... we received a nomination for its London 2012 'Games Inspired Muscle Dreams Programme' from a 27yr-old man called Sulaiman. Doctors told his parents that their son was unlikely to live past 5yrs. The rest is history ~ this is Sulaiman's story. From a phone call that in Sulaiman's own words 'changed my life' to being selected to participate, his story is all about #possibility, seizing opportunities, heartbreaking loss, powering through grief, celebrating #difference, smashing down barriers, building lasting friendships, and breathing a #purposeful life. And from an immersive experience that saw paralympic athletes at the top of their game, living their best lives through sport, Sulaiman's story speaks volumes about wheeling through life as a disabled man. Struggling to find work and #acceptance, today Sulaiman lives his best life, one day at a time. Click the link below to read the full story... https://lnkd.in/e2pgeWqF We're a small charity. Despite extremely limited resources, our #impact over the last 21 years, on those for whom the charity exists to serve, like Sulaiman, continues to be felt across the UK. In living the spirit of Easter, in being fearless, joyful and filled with renewal, underpinned by an enduring sense of #hope and #transformation in overcoming our adversities, we're sending love and Easter wishes to you all. If you can, please click the link below and donate so others with muscular dystrophy like Sulaiman can experience a Muscle Dream intervention. I just want to be like the other boys 😒 Meet Arthur, a precious young Ukrainian refugee whose dream was simply to be like all the other boys 😔 Behind the infectious smile, is a whole world of pain that started from the moment he was born, and now he and his Mum Elona, escaping the w@r in Ukraine, are cut off from the medical care he so desperately needs. We first met Arthur at our most recent "refugee day", where, despite his obvious issue, was found dancing and skipping, before bumping into Mark Williams. Yup, this giant of a man was reduced to tears by this bright and happy boy who'd burst into our life and our hearts 😢 Arthur needed urgent surgery to correct his clubfoot, any chance of living a normal life now resting in the balance, Mark asking me, "Is there anything we can do?" Mark's business, Sustainable Development Goals Ltd is all about helping companies achieve their SDG's, whilst giving back in what, in this instance at least, was such an incredible way. Mark had brought one of his clients, Rob Evans of AMCO, who without hesitation, offered to cover the not insignificant cost, giving Arthur the greatest gift imaginable. And so, before he knew it, Arthur had seen a specialist and underwent surgery, with months of rehabilitation ahead of him, all covered by the incredible team at AMCO. Now, none of this is about me, it's not, it's about you, the incredible people across LinkedIn who make what we do possible, but what I would say is, this highlights how, Hope4❤️ is reducing the distance between your donation and your impact. When you support the work of Hope4, you literally get to witness your own impact in real-time, in real-life. Yes there are other charities, but there is only one Hope4, and together #WeAreHope4 🔥 Once again, huge thanks to Mark, Rob and their respective organisations 😍 Please follow us across social media @wearehope4 to witness Arthur's incredible journey. www.hope4.org/donate And, if you'd like to get involved, please get in touch and connect with your own impact 💯 #sdg #impact #csr

Hugely grateful to Tim for dreaming up this new initiative to help our boy Max and others like him. ❤️ Transforming the time he is donating to people and their businesses and into donations for Alexander Disease research. Max your business. Help Max' life. While it has been brutal to be thrown into the deep end of rare disease advocacy, Max continues to be the light of our lives and we are not giving up the fight to advance the search for treatments and eventually a cure. For him, and others like him. The support and encouragement of friends, family and colleagues – every message saying that we're not mad – has been a lifeline and already, your contributions have made a huge difference. It's unbelievable that it's necessary in rare diseases, but we can absolutely make a difference. 🧬 Gene therapy research at UMass Chan Medical School by Prof Jun Xie that we managed to support with your donations has now secured a partnership from Astellas Pharma to advance a potential gene therapy for AxD. This could be transformational, but it'll take more time. 🔬 Prof Pranam Chatterjee, whose research into AI-generated targeted protein degraders at Duke had been supported by EndAxD, which we supported with crowdfunding, has been awarded a prestigious NIH grant to advance their technology further, hopefully leading to breakthroughs for AxD too. While we hope for positive research results soon, this may still be a while away from the clinic, as it's a completely new biotechnology to address a problem that was deemed unsolvable. 🧫 Prof Erika Gyengesi, PhD at Western Sydney University has hired a PhD Neuropharmacology student dedicated to AxD with your support, and the lab is now in the process of setting up the AxD models organisms in Sydney. Exciting, but it'll take time to get to the findings. 🧠 In addition, donations to Prof Hageman at the Waisman Center at University of Wisconsin-Madison are currently at work in crucial experiments that would've not been possible without your support. With all this progress, why are we even continuing? Because there's a funnel. Not everything will work. Most hypotheses and drugs haven't even been tried. And everything is slower than we thought. So, our focus at the moment is to raise more funds to enable a potential grant for high throughput drug screening that would allow us to test all FDA approved drugs in AxD models to see if any of them could help. This would, hopefully, proceed faster, and in the best case scenario could highlight drugs that are already approved and have an acceptable safety profile, such as the evidence often highlighted by David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, MSc and Every Cure. We have no idea where this will all lead. We can't know. We'll just try, and hope that kind people will continue to want to help along the way. Thank you for all the support. ❤️ Stephanie Holzhuber

❤️ MAX YOUR BUSINESS TO HELP MAX'S LIFE. ❤️ There are many things in life that come along and give you a big dollop of perspective. Not many will give you as much perspective as Max, and the journey he and his parents, Thomas and Stephanie are on. Max is two years old but sadly suffers from Alexander disease, a very rare, usually fatal, neurological disorder. There is no cure for this disease but there is hope via a multitude of research projects. But these require funding and therefore constant fundraising. To date, Max's story has raised just over $200k for this cause, thanks to the amazing push and efforts of his incredible parents and family. Now, we'd like to do more, to raise money for Max, and others. 💡 MAX YOUR BUSINESS is simple💡 A donation of time to help max(imize) businesses or individuals in return for a donation of money (of any amount) to help Max and others like him, via EndAxD (a charity dedicated to finding the cure for this). This could be an hour a week, a fortnight, a month or simply a one-off situation. It could be an existing service you offer, or simply something you do that others find value in. For example, I meet lots of different people for one-off chats who for various reasons I'd never charge for the advice I give them but if they found value in it, it would mean the world if they made a donation to the charity in Max's name. If you or your business also give away value as goodwill, I'd love to see more businesses encouraging people to donate. It's not meant to change the nature of your business or replace an existing service, simply allow more people the opportunity to seek your advice who wouldn't otherwise be able to pay for it and instead give what they can to help Max and others. MAX THEIR BUSINESS > MAX RESEARCH > HELP MAX'S LIFE. un-held will be doing this from now on but this will work best if others are able to do the same. You'd be amazed at how many people have something to offer to help max businesses and, therefore, to really help Max. Simply post the below logo, the above copy and the links in the comments if you're in a position to help to signal to others to get in touch with you. #MAXYOURBUSINESS

Hi everyone! I don't often post on LinkedIn (or any social media for that matter!) so when I do, it's usually for something I think is really important. Some may know that I started a journey back in January of this year - a journey to improve my physical health, fitness & mental health. So, I joined the Merthyr Man v Fat Football club, with the aim of shedding a few pounds and getting a bit more exercise (anything was more than I was doing then!) What has blown me away, is how much more the club is than just weight loss and football - it's a group of 100+ (and growing) men who have fully embraced the idea of community, friendship and support - nothing like anything I've ever experienced before. I could wax lyrical about how special this group is all day, but what I'm leading to is what has become a real cornerstone of this group. Back in November, the group sadly lost a member, Alex Meek. Although I never got to meet Alex, from hearing stories of him around the club, it is clear how highly he was thought of and how his passing sent shockwaves throughout the whole community. Sometimes it takes a tragedy like this to open our eyes and break down the stigma that still exists for men to talk about their feelings and worries. And that is why charity organisations such as Signposted Cymru are so important. Signposted Cymru is an initial and immediate intervention with early prevention for individuals struggling and needing support with mental health and well-being issues. This August I'm joining in with a challenge to do 150km in 30 days. My £30 donation/registration will provide 1 counselling session to an individual who is in desperate need of help. If you can spare a few £££s your donation would be hugely appreciated - or better still, why not join me and do the challenge yourself! (link in comments below 👇) Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please, please, please share this with your network. More money raised = More people helped! Thank you 🙏 #150kmin30days #everydonationhelps #meek6

This is James Cooper, a friend's fiancé. And he's running a marathon everyday in 2024, that's 366 (it's a leap year) !!! Obviously you're asking why? It's all in appreciation for & to raise funds for the renowned mental health charity, the Samaritans, who provide emotional support 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year (or 366 in leap years). James has a personal connection with the charity following his own battle with mental health as well as sadly losing a family member to suicide back in 2017. It's important to share that unfortunately this isn't unusual: • Every year 703,000 people take their own life - that’s one person every 40 seconds (World Heath Organisation) and there are many more people who attempt suicide. • 115 people die by suicide in the UK every week - with 75% of those deaths being male (ONS). • Males aged 45-49 have the highest suicide rate (Samaritans). By running a marathon a day for the whole of 2024, he aims to raise money and awareness of the Samaritans and inspire people to take that first step on the road to recovery. Given lots of my connections are within food & drink, if there are any brands wanting to support with free product then please get in touch. Thinking protein & recovery products, functional energy, coffee, healthy snacks etc. Let's share this to get this guy some credit & reach 😎 *link in the comments* #charity #mentalhealth #fmcg

So, it’s official….. handbook & hat all arrived & slot between 2nd & 9th September 2026 formally accepted. Undoubtedly will be the challenge of my life & know there is one hell of a journey ahead, with no doubt various ups & downs along the way. The messages of support received since the place was offered have helped given me the confidence I can do this - certainly a good shot at it. Now the planning starts as to ensuring I’m in the best physical & mentally prepared state to give this my best shot. I would like to raise some funds along the way for two causes close to heart, which I know will help spur me on in those tougher moments. Firstly, many will know my own hero, my Dad, has been coping with his biggest lifetime challenge of Parkinson’s over the last 5 years or so. He’s faced daily his ability to move unrestricted impacted, but just keeps going & striving to minimise its impact. Parkinson’s UK have provided genuine on the ground support to Dad, both physically & emotionally. So, I know these thoughts will help keep me moving , when it gets tough. Secondly, when the email landed offering the place in 2026, it struck me Charles would’ve been 18years only a few months earlier. Undoubtedly I’m going to be digging in for the biggest dose of #bemoreCharles on this journey & with the blessing of Jim & Jennie, I’m hoping to raise some funds for The BrainTumour Charity to remember both Charles & others, Jo Cook, whose lives have been so impacted. Ideally I’d like funds to be broadly equally shared across the two charities & have set up the 2 links below to be there until the big day. 😊🏊♀️🤞🇫🇷 Thanks for everyone’s support….. will give timeline updates of milestones along the way …… including the jellybeans stings 🤪 #channelswim #ParkinsonsUK #BemoreCharles https://lnkd.in/eu5sKyep https://lnkd.in/epTSrQEC

A reminder to ‘do boring’. This weekend I hosted the charity run Søenx for the second year in a row, and I was unable to complete the distance of 100km that I had hoped for. After 51km, I pulled the pin… Having completed the distance at the event last year, I thought I would be able to do it again, despite having had several minor injuries in the months leading up, which impacted my training. But hoping for something isn’t a valid strategy. Just passed halfway, my right hip and calf were far from pleased with my intentions. In hindsight, I cannot give minor injuries the entire blame. If I’m honest with myself, most of the blame can be given to my failure to ‘do boring’. In regards to my training, boring is my prehab (exercises for injury prevention), which I have been slacking with in the preparation this year. The boring may be boring, but doing it consistently pays dividends in the long run. Failure to do boring has consequences. This weekend, the consequence was disappointing myself. Today, I’m back from my summer break, and looking forward to continuing my work with Clutch, which I will be doing with a renewed focus on doing the boring - consistently and well. The boring includes: - Prospecting thoroughly and consistently. - Doing enough cold calls consistently. - Practicing objection handling consistently. On the bright side, I’ve learned (and/or re-learned) something, witnessed close friends push themselves past their limits - and we raised a lot of money for Psykiatrifonden. 🧠 #boring #sales #charity

Every charity is undeniably dependent upon its benefactors, sponsors and those who simply believe in the cause and prepared to unconditionally support something they recognise as not only of social importance but that changes the lives of those who may have taken a wrong turn in life. The Howarth Foundation is not a ‘sexy’ charity, it supports those who you may have once seen sat in a shop doorway or the main drag of your home town or city often spaced out of their mind on drink and or drugs and if I had a quid for every time I’ve heard remarks like, ‘why don’t they just stop’ or ‘they don’t help themselves’ our charity would be cash rich. The fact is that our clients, many of whom (BUT NOT ALL) are drug and alcohol dependant, just can’t stop! Addiction is an illness, an incurable disease but one which can be managed with the right treatment and after care support. Together with our Business Building Futures (BBF) members, The Howarth Foundation support those who have made a conscious and determined effort to take the first step from that doorway, churchyard or back ally and get themselves back on the ladder of normality that we take for granted. However, much like our clients, The Howarth Foundation does not expect a handout or free ride without some return on investment and that is why we developed our BBF Platinum member group that gives back by offering benefits such as free advertising in our quarterly newsletter, a monthly networking event with business related visiting speakers and social media post such as this. But we need more members of likeminded business owners and decision makers that have committed their organisation to providing a private sector solution to a public sector problem and to making a difference to homelessness and are appreciative of the two-way relationship. If you would like to join this prestigious and exclusive group, please e mail andy@howarthfoundation.org.uk Sophie Henderson Gill Hassall John Green Jonothan Scollen John Ainley April Coward Amy Kent Paul Walton Jamie Marshall Gavin Howarth Carl Hedley Taylor Lynch
