On January 2, 2024, I clocked five years as CEO of the Asset Management business of United Capital Plc, a position that has significantly impacted my personal and professional life and one that I am grateful for.   As I look back at the experience so far, three lessons resonate with me:   1. Don't be in a hurry to sit at the table. There is a time for preparation, so make sure you pay attention to the season of preparation. Many of the lessons, wisdom, and relationships I had to rely on were gained during that season of preparation.   2. You are never fully ready for an opportunity. During my first few months of this opportunity, I struggled with imposter syndrome. I was practically running from my office because I didn't think I was ready or even deserving of the opportunity until a mentor said to me,' Odiri, it doesn't matter how you got there or whether you think you are ready; it's how you choose to make the most of this opportunity that matters. That got me started on a remarkable journey to make sure I did not waste this opportunity.   3. What got you here cannot take you there. There is no end to learning, and you will outlive your current capacity at some point in your journey, so you need to continue to refill. So many times, when I got stuck and didn't know what to do, I had to go back to refilling and increasing my capacity to lead and grow. It is important to understand that success is a journey and one that is filled with multiple bumps, but as you continue to strive for mastery and learn, you will enjoy the process of navigating challenges.   I am excited about the next 5 years, and I look forward to growing more, learning more, and succeeding more.   A special thank you to every member of my team and mentors who have invested in me on this journey. #odirioginni #executivediary #careergrowth #unitedcapitalplc
