While families continue to struggle with rising rents and home prices, costs associated with housing like supportive services, energy, and transportation continue to spike. Here at Navigate, we approach housing and community development holistically, tackling housing costs while also ensuring that residents are financially stable and on a path to homeownership. As part of our holistic community development approach, we recently announced a scaled-up commitment of $3.7 million to local organizations providing for critical needs. The 2023 #NavigateGivesBack program supported organizations providing clothing, food assistance, disaster relief, and more. More: https://prn.to/476JrIb

Chief Advocate @ ChalkWild, LLC | American Leadership Forum Senior Fellow | Nonprofit Board member | Transforming education by nurturing mental well-being and creative expression.
The power of collaboration of between American Leadership Forum senior fellows: In a heartening display of community spirit, Habitat for Humanity Merced/Stanislaus Counties (senior fellows Anita Hellam & Ashlee Williams) has partnered with PG&E Corporation Foundation (senior fellow Michael Gaffney), Calvary Assembly of God Church, and local organizations to address the housing crisis following the severe storms and flooding that ravaged Merced and Stanislaus counties earlier this year. Habitat for Humanity Merced/Stanislaus Counties CEO Anita Hellam emphasized the devastation in various regions, with many survivors still residing in damaged structures or transitional housing. To support the long-term volunteers working on reconstruction projects, a unique collaboration emerged between Habitat for Humanity and the Calvary Assembly of God Church, led by Pastor Juan Ochoa. A grant from PG&E Corporation Foundation has made it possible to renovate a church-owned property in Merced, transforming it into temporary housing for volunteers. Michael Gaffney, Division Operations Representative of PG&E's Central Valley Region, celebrated the partnership and its reflection of shared values in fostering compassionate, resilient communities. This remarkable joint effort also includes contributions from Habitat for Humanity California, Habitat for Humanity International, First 5 of Merced County, and donations of materials and supplies to the Habitat ReStore. The project aims to provide a comfortable living space for dedicated volunteers traveling from across the nation to assist in rebuilding efforts over the next three years. #ALFseniorfellow #americanleadershipforum #collaboration #community

New Jersey's Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (#NRTC) program provides a unique funding method for community development organizations. By offering a 100% tax credit to businesses that fund nonprofit revitalization plans, NJ focuses on the ability to plan and execute comprehensive community projects rather than adhering to strict #CDC definitions like in #SC or #MA. Should more states offer flexible funding procedures to enhance community development efforts? https://bit.ly/3Run2ji #CommunityDevelopment #UrbanDevelopment #SocialGood

Last month, HAC and many of its friends gathered in Washington, DC for our National Rural Housing Conference. This year’s theme was “Build Rural”. There is a lot behind that theme. 🏠 It describes what we all do: we build rural housing, communities, knowledge, and prosperity. 🏠It reminds us that thriving rural communities don’t happen by accident—they are built. 🏠It inspires us to build a better, stronger future across rural America. 🏠And, it calls us to action: find solutions and forge coalitions that will build rural prosperity. But, most importantly, the success of building rural relies on the strength of our connections. We are united by the knowledge there are others out there that share our desire to do good for rural communities. So, this #GivingTuesday and all through the giving season, let’s build rural! We hope you will consider making a gift that will build rural housing, communities, knowledge, and prosperity. https://loom.ly/qosPtbY

In a landscape characterized by disconnection and isolation, partnership and collaboration are what drive successful outcomes.
This week, we got the call: DESC had beds open at The Gateway Emergency Shelter and could we help fill them? We immediately connected with Aurora Commons, another community partner, and between their clients and ours we were able to get 9 people off the streets of North Seattle in less than 36 hours. LCP's integrated partnership approach continues to benefit the wider landscape of homelessness service providers, and our clients are the ones who benefit most of all with speedier and more integrated service offerings. Thank you, DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) and Aurora Commons for your fast-acting work, and commitment to collaborative, community partnerships. #community #homelesslivesmatter

The Community Development Block Grant program is a vital resource for local governments, providing them with the ability to address critical needs and improve the overall quality of life for their residents. Enacted by Congress in 1974 under the Housing and Community Development Act and signed into law by President Gerald Ford on August 22, 1974, CDBG provides necessary funding to communities across the country to address infrastructure, economic development, housing, disaster recovery, and other community needs. CDBG was the result of the consolidation of eight categorical programs which were federally funded. Low- and moderate-income people are the direct program beneficiaries. States and entitlement cities and counties receive direct program allocations. Small, rural communities receive assistance through their state. Nonprofit organizations, contractors, and other local partner organizations serve as program subrecipients to deliver local CDBG activities. If you would like to learn the basics of CDBG grants, please consider registering for National Association for County Community and Economic Development's CDBG's Basic course, a virtual training held with the Cloudburst Group. We look forward to seeing you there! Dates: April 16, 18, 23, & 25 Member Price: $450 Non-Member Price: $550 Register today: https://lnkd.in/ezV7YNTR NACCED is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and serves as a voice for county government professionals focused on affordable housing, community and economic development, and homelessness. #NACCED #CommunityDevelopment #CDBG #CloudburstGroup #UrbanPlanning #EconomicDevelopment #LocalGovernment #HUD #ProfessionalDevelopment Resources: https://lnkd.in/d6Xm7jWw
