Let’s prioritize the physical and mental health of ourselves and those around us. June marks an important period dedicated to raising awareness about HIV testing. HIV, a virus that compromises the immune system, targets and eradicates vital blood cells essential for the body’s healing processes. Due to recent studies, there are many medications to help prevent HIV (pre-exposure prophylaxis, Truvada, etc.), as well as reduce the risk of AIDS (antiretroviral therapy, etc.) HIV affects not only the body, but the mental health of the individual. Although there are ways to prevent HIV, such as some medications (as mentioned previously), avoiding blood-blood contact, etc. it is important to understand that it is not contagious. Many people are affected by the idea of HIV being contagious and attention must be brought to it. It is imperative that we act responsibly and prioritize our health. Ensure you get tested to mitigate the risk of AIDS and safeguard your well-being. Let’s navigate the rest of the year with a strong commitment to maintaining our well-being and safety #StaySafe #HIVAwareness #HIVTesting #ShowCompassion
