Important Alert: Misuse of Personal Information I, Neeraj Arora, have recently discovered that my photo is being misused to create fake identities. These identities are not only being used on social media but have also been extended to matrimonial sites in foreign countries. Specifically, my details and photographs have been manipulated to create fraudulent profiles, as seen on Bharat Matrimonial's website, resulting in deceptive practices. This isn't the first occurrence. I have previously encountered a similar issue, prompting me to file a police complaint. These offenders are crafting fake identity proofs using my photos, establishing profiles on matrimonial sites, and then deceitfully engaging with women to solicit money. It's concerning to see people being so vulnerable as to transfer significant sums of money without even meeting someone in person. I am at a loss on how to handle this ongoing problem and would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions. Caution:Please be vigilant and avoid transferring money to anyone you meet online. The frequency of internet scams is on the rise, affecting various platforms from messaging apps like Telegram to matrimonial websites. If anyone has experienced similar issues or has any recommendations on how to address this, please let me know. Stay safe and remain cautious. #alert #caution #misuse

⚠️ Two arrested in Nigeria after Australian boy's suicide—blackmailed for $500. 27 kids have been killed by the Yahoo Boys so far. 👉 Hundreds of thousands of kids every day are getting friend/follow requests from sextortion criminals on Instagram and Snap Inc.. A significant percent of kids fall for the trap. 📷 “It was all jovial banter at first; then it started to become sexualized. Then all of a sudden, "she" sent him racy pictures, and encouraged the boy to reciprocate." Then, they flipped the script. 💵 The scammers told the teenager if he didn’t pay $500 in online gift cards, they would send his photos to his family and school friends. 📲 "The messages are horrific. They're aggressive and put a lot of pressure on the boy to pay the money or his life would be ruined." ⌛ Hours later, he killed himself. Police said the family had done the right thing by speaking with their son about online safety. They even had a discussion with him about sextortion. 🕸️ "Evidence suggests the Nigerian scammers were using a 'scattergun' approach, targeting numerous children... it was clear that they are involved in sextortion more broadly, with other victims." 📈 In Australia, financial sextortion cases are up 400% in the last 18 months. The eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman - Grant and AFP have been warning about this. 💡 "The case was strikingly similar to the deaths of other schoolboys, Canadians Robin Janjua and William Doiron, and American Jordan Demay, who were all hounded to suicide by sextortion plots run by west African crime gangs." The Network Contagion Research Institute has been sounding the alarm on this cybercrime syndicate. 💥 It's time to start fighting this like organized crime. 💥 The criminals are organized. We need to be too. 💥 We join forces on April 24th for a global partnership to combat sextortion. Be Aware of your Surroundings
I’ve been asked by some, why it is that I share these videos. Many argue that it’s a small minority of events yet has the potential to upset many people. My response is simple. The victims of these crimes didn’t ask for it, they were dished the dark side of daily South African life. It must be exposed to create awareness, it must be exposed to hopefully quell the growing syndicated crime that exist. It must be exposed to illustrate just how wayward a society we have become. The trauma that each of these victims experienced is no match to the howling and objections one could expose oneself to for sharing it on these platforms or being silent for that matter. Furthermore, these phones end up in the hands of the silent criminals who buy STOLEN GOODS. That must STOP.

🚨The FBI has seen a horrific increase in reports of financial sextortion schemes involving CHILDREN. In 2023, NCMEC received 26,718 cases, more than double the 10,731 from 2022. From October 2022 to March 2023, incident involving minors, jumped by at least 20%. Victims are typically males between the ages of 14 to 17, but any child can be targeted. Offenders often from countries like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and the Philippines, are ruthless. These crimes are leading children to self-harm and have caused multiple child suicides. Victims of sextortion may feel overwhelmed or that there is no way out, but there is hope. If this happens to a child in your life, remember and emphasize that the blackmailer is to blame, not the child. Even if they made a choice they regret, what the offender is doing is a crime. If your child has been faced with sextortion, please report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children Cyber Tipline 🆘 report.cybertip.org National Center for Missing & Exploited Children If you need some suggestions for how to talk to your child in an age-appropriate way about this tough topic, please let me know and please don't delay.

Don't you think it should be as expensive to maintain a frudulent business identity, as it is to maintain a real business identity. To do this we need access to reliable information. Companies House new powers to verify businesses are important and as Cifas points out, those checks need to include a wide range of data points (including personal identity). To build fraud defence barriers the Government should also open: + HM Revenue & Customs because the bad guys don't tend to pay tax + Information Commissioner's Office because bad guys don't tend to register if they are collecting data. + Sector specific regulator data like the Financial Conduct Authority (where's your API?)
We saw an 180% increase in the number of companies targeted for identity fraud last year, particularly for telecoms and loan products. Legislation changes specific to Companies House should help reduce the number of fake companies from being set up – but only if it conducts the right checks. Thank you to today’s BBC Morning Live programme (29 Jan) for covering this important topic and including insight from our CEO, Mike Haley. 🔎 How can banks prevent financial sextortion? Financial sextortion is a form of blackmail. Abusers trick their victims into sending explicit content using a fake identity online.
