The toll is alarmingly high, with about 287,000 women losing their lives during and following pregnancy and childbirth in 2020. 😢💔 75% of these maternal deaths are due to preventable complications such as severe bleeding and infections. The gap in skilled birth attendance is staggering—68% in low-income countries compared to 99% in high-income and upper-middle-income countries. Today, Care Ring (in partnership with Novant Health and Mecklenburg County) hosted a dynamic conference, emphasizing Black maternal health disparities and outlining ways to improve health outcomes.
