"That was fellow-level research, Destiny, congratulations!" Dr. Abigail M. Ramseyer, DO And that's a wrap! Over two years of research have led to this morning's opportunity to present at the Sparrow Health System's Grand Rounds! It was such an honour to be invited by Stephanie Fleming, Chair, Dept of Ob/Gyn Sparrow Hospital, following my presentation at the #HEALSexualHealthConference2024 at Michigan State University! My research on the overutilisation of emergency services is multifold; 1. Identifying patients seen in Michigan hospital systems (Urban, 100000+ populations) 2. Determine overutlisation status based on ICD-10 codes, provider discharge summary, and patient recommendations. Encourage survey participation. 3. Provide educational interventions (video, brochure, poster) and send out retake attempts to survey participants following a 30-day period. This research not only highlights significant levels of overutilisation in Michigan but also which education interventions and resources are most effective in developing informed decision-making from our patients, thus relieving the burden on our emergency staff and providers. Please do not hesitate to reach out for more information or feedback. Thank you for your support in my research journey; I look forward to continuing this research journey following my graduation from Michigan State University College of Natural Science! #healthcare #emergencymedicine #research #undergraduate #grandrounds

Our paper is one of the most cited papers*! A codesigned fit-for-purpose implementation framework for aged care Dr Claudia Meyer PhD, Dr Rajna Ogrin PhD, Dr Xanthe Golenko PhD, Dr Liz Cyarto PhD, Kath Paine, Willeke Walsh PhD, Prof Alison Hutchinson PhD, Prof Judy Lowthian PhD We developed a fit-for-purpose implementation framework for aged care (IFAC) for a proactive and responsive aged care provider. The simplicity of the six-question IFAC is underpinned by substantial theoretical perspectives for its elements and their connections. This complexity is then consolidated into an 18-question checklist to operationalize the IFAC, necessary to advance the translation of evidence into clinical practice. https://lnkd.in/gpAXKTry *Citation data from Clarivate Analytics. Transportation barriers significantly impact #healthcare access, leading to approximately 3.6 million people missing or delaying medical care annually. This challenge contributes to 25-50% of all missed appointments across health systems. At the 17th Health Disparities Conference at Xavier University of Louisiana, Audrey Shawley, MD, and Isabel Anderson unveiled their study titled “Impact of Free Rideshare on No-show Rates and Healthcare Utilization in High Medical and Social Needs Patients.” Their research at the MedVantage Clinic within Ochsner Health investigates how free rideshare services can mitigate transportation issues as a social determinant of health. Dr. Shawley, one of our recent graduates who is preparing for a residency in internal medicine, and Isabel Anderson, a third-year UQ-Ochsner medical student, explore effective strategies to improve healthcare access. Early findings highlighted the vital role of communicating the availability of paid rides and the importance of attending appointments, supported by phone reminders. #medicalstudent #research #rideshareforhealth
