Driving Strategic Growth & Market Expansion | Innovative Sales & Marketing Leader | Expert in Relationship Development & Stakeholder Engagement | Passionate About Delivering Exceptional Customer Experiences
This last quarter I was privileged to take part in an interesting industry event. the Agrifin Learning Event whose theme was - Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Food Systems: Enhancing Collaboration to Scale Digital Solutions Here are some of my observations: 1.Small-scale food producers (small holder farmers) are pivotal to ensuring food security and sustainable economic growth in the Sub-Saharan Africa 2.Despite their contribution to economies across the region, small holder farmers continue to face systemic constraints, including limited access to inputs, information, finance, and market linkages 3.Women, who account for circa 70% of all small-scale production in Sub-Saharan Africa receive limited tailored support, constraining their productive potential 4.The growth of digital technologies provides a viable way to build producers' resilience by providing solutions such as capacity building and strengthened linkages with input and output markets, as well as business development services like insurance. The ALE brought together stakeholders who are focused on leveraging digital technology, to share solutions that improve food producers’ productivity and livelihood. What is your role as an individual? The journey to change our ecosystem is a collective exercise which needs intentional collaboration. #AGRIFIN2023# #foodsecurity #climateaction #finance #digitalbusinesstransformation #agriculture #sustainableagriculture #sustainability #collaboration #partnerecosystem

🌽Today, the African Union is launching the 4th CAADP Biennial Review Report and the Post-Malabo Roadmap as part of continental commitments to eradicate extreme hunger in our continent. 🐠There are several interlink challenges, such as conflicts, health, etc, that have prevented African countries from achieving food security commitments. In addition, climate change has added to the complexity of attaining the same. 🥬It was noted that, on average, African countries scored 2.9 out of 10 in eradicating hunger, which calls for increasing efforts to achieve the Malabo commitment. 🧅The seven Malabo commitments include: Upholding the CAADP principles and values; enhancing investment in agriculture; ending hunger and halving poverty by 2025; boosting intra-African agricultural trade; enhancing resilience to climate variability; and strengthening mutual accountability. 🥦H.E Commissioner Sacko echoed that the #CAADP review process is a powerful tool for #advocacy, allowing member states to learn from each other. The report is also the means for measuring commitments and accountability by member states. 🍎The reports contain several recommendations to improve performance in future words. ⛈ The upcoming Post Malabo process under research and analysis will further focus on #climatechange and #mitigation 💲 Partners commended the excellent work AU and called for an inclusive participation process in the upcoming operations. 🍋For more information about the African Agriculture Transformation Scorecard, visit: https://lnkd.in/eHV3EdQx AUDA NEPAD African Union International Women's Day 2024 Green Climate Fund International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Estherine Fotabong

Big announcement 🔊 The Sustainable Farming for a Climate Resilient Livelihood of Cocoa Farmers in Uganda Project with funding from Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development has been extended until 2027! Building on the past one year of implementing the pilot for phase A of the project, Solidaridad and other project partners will continue to address the environmental, social, and governance corporate social responsibility risks in the cocoa value chain in Uganda. In this implementation partnership, Solidaridad will use its gender expertise to implement gender-transformative methodologies that will impact 600 cocoa farmers including but not limited to women and youths' living income and cocoa yields. In addition, Solidaridad will lead in rolling out the Village Saving and Loans Association(VSLA) to boost farmers' access to finance while simultaneously promoting the development of cocoa agroforestry agricultural methods for climate adaptation and mitigation. The extension comes at a time when cocoa production in Uganda has increased, with the value of formal exports growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.3 percent ($54.2m to $105.8m) between 2017 and 2021. Solidaridad East and Central Africa's Regional Business Development and Partnership Engagement Manager, Molly Kwamah, reflected on the new extension saying, "The Uganda cocoa sector is still very fresh yet a promising value chain that requires sustainable interventions to improve socio-economic well-being of the cocoa smallholder farmers. The project is therefore coming on time as it seeks to promote social inclusion and economic empowerment for the stakeholders in this commodity." #Uganda #ProjectExtension #CocoaFarming #Farmers #Partnerships #Agriculture #MarketAccess #SupplyChain SanoRice Holding B.V. | Icam Cioccolato

Agribalance insights: Tanzanian government has implemented various initiatives to support agricultural development, including investment in infrastructure, extension services, and agricultural research. Programs such as Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) aiming to modernize the sector and enhance productivity. Access to markets remains a challenge for many smallholder farmers in Tanzania. Improving transportation infrastructure and market linkages is essential to ensure farmers can sell their produce at fair prices and access inputs efficiently. Advancing Sustainable Development in Nigeria: A Focus on SDG 2 As Nigeria charts its course towards sustainable development, ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agriculture stand out as crucial objectives encapsulated in Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2). With a burgeoning population and various socio-economic challenges, addressing food insecurity and enhancing agricultural sustainability are paramount for Nigeria's progress. Despite its vast agricultural potential, Nigeria still grapples with food insecurity, malnutrition, and poverty. Rapid urbanization, climate change, inefficient agricultural practices, and inadequate infrastructure pose significant challenges to achieving SDG 2. However, amidst these challenges lie opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and transformative change. Investing in modern agricultural techniques, such as precision farming, sustainable land management, and climate-smart agriculture, can boost productivity while minimizing environmental degradation. Leveraging technology, including drones for crop monitoring, mobile applications for market access, and digital platforms for agricultural extension services, can empower farmers and improve yields. Furthermore, promoting inclusive policies that prioritize smallholder farmers, women, and youth is essential for equitable agricultural development. Enhancing access to finance, agricultural inputs, and market linkages can unlock the potential of these marginalized groups, fostering economic growth and reducing poverty. Collaboration between the government, private sector, civil society, and international partners is paramount for achieving SDG 2. By fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships, sharing knowledge, and mobilizing resources, Nigeria can accelerate progress towards food security, rural development, and sustainable agriculture. Moreover, addressing the root causes of food insecurity, such as poverty, inequality, and conflict, is vital for achieving lasting change. Investing in education, healthcare, social protection, and peace-building initiatives can create an enabling environment for sustainable development, where all Nigerians have the opportunity to thrive. In conclusion, SDG 2 presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Nigeria to transform its agricultural sector, eradicate hunger, and build a more prosperous and resilient nation. By embracing innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration, Nigeria can realize the vision of a future where every citizen has access to nutritious food, and agriculture serves as a driver of sustainable development. Together, let us work towards a hunger-free and prosperous Nigeria for generations to come. #SDG2 #ZeroHunger #SustainableAgriculture #Nigeria #GlobalGoals
