I swear too much and am far too honest to ever be employed in corporate. It's one of the reasons why I started Radical Recruit. On a more serious note, my 'why' is so much more about what I can do, rather than what I can't. For example... At Radical, we're rewriting the script on traditional employment barriers. Because we believe everyone deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their identity, past or current circumstances. Take Steve, for example. He was brought up in care having been removed from his unmarried Irish mother 60 odd years prior. When I met Steve, he was sleeping in his leaky car. It was the middle of winter. He explained that he had spent 30 years sleeping rough, squatting and sofa surfing with friends who enjoyed a similar lifestyle - fuelled by drugs and alcohol. He was what we in the sector would term 'entrenched in homelessness'. With over 140 convictions on his record, he'd spent 10 of those years behind bars. An addict, in and out of recovery, Steve had never worked a formal job on the books. But with our support, Steve found stability. He secured meaningful employment as a Grounds Operative in the middle of the plague after his cash in hand work dried up. After a year, we supported him to transition into an Outreach Worker role which he had wanted to do for as long as he could remember. Ironically, he would help others who were entrenched in homelessness to come off the streets and rebuild. He got clean and sober. He moved into a private rental, where he remains to this day. I suspect you've gathered by now that my work isn't just about finding people jobs. It's about empowering individuals to reclaim their dignity, confidence, and independence. It's about building stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. But my teeny tiny charity can't do it alone. We are funded by businesses like yours that have #Diversity, #CSR and #ESG commitments to realise. And that want to take advantage of all of the amazing services and benefits partnering with our organisation has to offer. Like access to the UKs most diverse Radical talent for your entry level roles. And corporate volunteering opportunities for your people. And meaningful Team Away days. We also offer access to unconscious bias and trauma informed leadership training. Plus awesome brand alignment which you can leverage to win contracts. Our sponsors contribute £3,000 per annum, or £250 a month, to help a Radical like Steve build a life that they love, and walk with purpose into their futures. It's the difference between someone like Steve remaining trapped in cycles of homelessness and incarceration or finding a path to a brighter future. Could your business sponsor a Radical in 2024? Fancy a chat about how our businesses could join forces to transform lives and bolster your ESG and CSR programmes? DM me, comment below or tag someone you think might benefit from a chat with me.

Helping emerging leaders in charities to thrive and create more impact. Through 1 to 1 coaching, facilitation and interim management. interim placements. Certified coach/certified trainer|charity leader
Stepping into a new role is exciting and nerve-racking, often all at the same time, so it is great to know you will be supported each step of the way to finding you next role by the team at WR Fundraising Recruitment Saul Bunn but their support does not stop when you are offered the job.. oh no it goes much further! They know that those first few months are vital to feel confident about bringing all your experience into a new role. This is why we work together bringing me in to support through coaching. This is what Summa, Head of Marketing & Communications said about the benefit this opportunity gave her; "Taking up Sarah's coaching as a new starter has really helped me to get the best start possible in my new role. Joining the charity sector was new to me and with a newly formed role too, an external coach has been really helpful to help me better understand the dynamics, as well as hit the ground running. During the sessions with Sarah, we discussed not only how I was finding the new role, but other challenges i've faced in my professional career, particularly since becoming a manager and leader. Sarah took time to work through experiences with me which in turn helped to provide validation and increased confidence in myself. This has had an empowering impact in my new role, especially on the way I work day to day. I learnt quite a lot about myself in just a few sessions with Sarah, and i'm pleased to have had this opportunity to focus on my professional development." It concerns whether organisations like charities and social enterprises struggle to find qualified staff because of a shortage of skilled job seekers.
