What happens behind-the-scenes before a job is posted? 1. Hiring manager informs HR of vacant position. 2. Hiring manager, in collaboration with HR, confirms budget. 3. Hiring manager completes requisition form for HR. 4. HR and hiring manager discuss job details and requirements. 5. Job is posted internally and externally. 6. HR sources potential candidates. 7. HR ensures applicants complete application forms and required authorizations. 8. HR conducts phone screening of top candidates. Most people will see the job at Step 5. But you can be the preferred candidate before Step 1. Identify your top companies. Build relationships with decision makers. Be the number 1 pick before the job comes out. I like to hire based on potential. Even in a "hiring manager's" market with lots of perfect skill matches, I don't always prefer the person who fits best on the "technical" requirements of the job. Why? Because these can change pretty quickly and there are some competencies that I really like to see in candidates that I consider just as important (within reason). Things like: Adaptability Business Acumen Resilience Judgment I think the pandemic taught us that these things can be REALLY important. So cover off the core skills part, and then dive a bit deeper into those transferable competencies that can really make the difference in your organization when things don't go according to plan. #hr #humanresources #hiring #recruitment #recruiting #interviewskills

HR & TA are like oil and water! Put them together and you're just asking for malfunction!   If your HR and TA teams work together hand-in-glove, your process is busted.   Why this isn't immediately apparent is bewildering.   The vast majority of HR functions require highly skilled, detail oriented administrators.   Recruiting on the other hand, is a complex, solution-sale that requires deep understanding of human nature, a bit of psychology, some basic copywriting skills, and broad knowledge of dozens of other topics.    What is it about these two jobs that makes them look like the same?   Put HR in charge of TA and you'll end up with a machine that's highly efficient at tracking candidates that don't fit your open jobs.    Want a world class talent recruiting machine finding the best and rapidly filling key roles? Then it's time to burn the status quo.   There's proven systems.. Hiring is key. Also maintaining a conductive workplace environment, is one of the most important role of an HR, such as day-to-day monitoring and maintaining engagement and mental well-being of employees to yield better productivity. Sometimes Employees are known to loose their spark months/years after onboarding, and if this is not closely monitored, the employee will begin to experience job dissatisfaction which might lead to employee turnover.
