Our Director, Mr.Gajendra Rai, spoke last week about the policy landscape study conducted by CMSR on protective measures for informal workers against air pollution. It was an insightful session where the urgent need to ensure better healthcare access, preventive measures, and workplace safety for the informal workers was highlighted. Many informal workers such as construction workers, street vendors and waste pickers work in poorly regulated environments. They have limited to no access to workplace safety standards and health benefits that could mitigate the effects of air pollution. Moreover, due to lack of education, many informal workers may not be fully aware of the risks of air pollution or lack the knowledge of how to mitigate its effects.
