Fantastic results from our continued collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Udaipur! Beautiful pictures from the Miyawaki Scaleup sites, demonstrating the amazing impact we've made! 🌱 We have successfully planted or assisted in the planting of almost 80,000 native trees thanks to this Scaleup and the pilots we carried out under CapaCITIES! This is a big step to help our communities fight climate change and improve biodiversity. We also have our presence in the cities of Siliguri and Vadodara as a commitment to this cause. Many thanks to everyone who took part in this project! 🚀 U.S.-South Asia Mayoral Platform on Sustainable Cities launched in Jaipur! 🌍 ICLEI South Asia, in collaboration with USAID, proudly announces the launch of the U.S.-South Asia Mayoral Platform on Sustainable Cities in #Jaipur on 22 October 2024. This first-of-its-kind initiative connects cities from the U.S. and South Asia to foster knowledge exchange, cross-learning, and collaboration. The platform aims to accelerate sustainable urban development, enhance city-level resilience, and drive clean energy transitions across both regions. Cities globally face unprecedented challenges, from climate extremes and expanding urban populations to aging infrastructure and yet to be served populations. While numerous innovative solutions are already in place, this platform empowers cities to connect, share best practices, and strengthen their capacities for the future. During the launch, U.S. Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, emphasized, "Together with ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability, one of our great partners, we’re launching the U.S.-South Asia Mayoral Platform on Sustainable Cities in Jaipur. I'm proud to welcome 18 mayors and city representatives from the United States and across South Asia to come together through sister city relationships. Local officials will always be my heroes as they are the true innovators and actors to make these goals real. This platform will foster the technical exchange of expertise between cities to make sustainable goals a reality." Rajasthan’s Energy Minister, Mr. Heeralal Nagar, added, "It is a proud moment for Rajasthan, the leading state in solar and renewable energy, to host this prestigious event. This partnership will help shape the future of clean energy and inclusive development, supporting India's vision to become a global leader by 2047." Together, we are forging a path towards sustainable and resilient cities. 🌱🏙️ #SustainableCities #CleanEnergy #USASouthAsiaPlatform #ICLEI #USAID #ClimateResilience #Innovation #UrbanDevelopment #GlobalPartnerships #EnergyTransition ICLEI USA | USAID India | South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) | Emani Kumar | Soumya Chaturvedula | Nikhil Kolsepatil | Keshav Jha PMP® | Yougal Tak | bhupandra salodia | Ila Singh | Devishree Kandari | Sasi Madambi | Gaurav Patel | Sai Siddhartha Nandamuri | Dechen Wangmo | Shardul Venegurkar | ankit makvana

New Era of Sustainable Urban Development! 🌍 As cities grapple with challenges like climate extremes, growing populations, aging infrastructure, and the urgent need for clean energy transitions, it’s vital to provide a platform for city leaders to share pioneering solutions and best practices. By learning from one another’s innovative approaches, we can enhance city-level resilience and accelerate sustainable urban development. A delegation-visit of the city mayors from U.S. and South Asia have been brought together by USAID and ICLEI to foster knowledge exchange and cross-learning, to encourage sustainable urban development in the regions. As part of the site visit, on 21st October, 2024 the delegation visited the Mahindra World City (MWC) in #Jaipur. MWC exemplifies what can be achieved through a commitment to sustainability. Spanning 3,000 acres and home to over 125 companies, MWC aims for carbon neutrality, water positivity, and zero waste to landfill by 2030. The delegation learned about: • Integrated Urban Planning: Blending residential, commercial, and industrial spaces with sustainability at the core. • Community Engagement: Initiatives like "Making Sustainability Personal" inspire residents and employees to embrace eco-friendly practices. • Biodiversity Conservation: Afforestation projects that boost green cover and protect local ecosystems. • Water and Waste Management: Achieving over 85% zero waste to landfill and implementing water recycling initiatives that support water positivity. Delegates also toured the #SewageTreatmentPlant, which treats wastewater for landscaping, with the residue repurposed as manure shared with neighbouring villages. ICLEI is committed to creating practical, sustainable urban solutions. Shaping the future of sustainable cities at #MahindraWorldCity, Jaipur 🌍 We were honoured to welcome city mayors from the U.S., South Asia and India to #MahindraWorldCity, #Jaipur, where they experienced firsthand how our 3,000-acre integrated city, home to 145+ companies, sets new benchmarks in sustainable industrial development. During their visit, the delegates gained insights into our journey towards achieving carbon neutrality, water positivity, and zero waste to landfill by 2040 through initiatives such as solar-powered rooftops, energy-efficient infrastructure, a rainwater harvesting system, Sewage Treatment Plant, green cover of nearly 10,000 trees, and more. The discussion also opened up avenues for knowledge sharing on sustainable practices, laying the groundwork for future collaboration. Beyond demonstrating how our integrated city embodies the future of green cities, we highlighted our commitment to community engagement, including our joint venture with the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation, and our flagship CSR initiative, Nanhi Kali, empowering women and girls across the nation. 🌏 Exciting insights from the Asia LEDs Partnership Forum 2024! Juhi Bansal, NDC and LT-LEDS Specialist and Regional Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific at UNFCC, emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared learning among countries. She highlighted that nations are already making strides in their NDCs, and the focus should be on building upon these efforts rather than starting from scratch. The discussions around The Global Stocktake and CMA decisions are crucial for identifying gaps and opportunities in climate action. Juhi’s key message resonates strongly: by leveraging existing progress, countries can enhance their ambitions and effectively align their strategies with the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement. The synergy between BTRs, NDCs, and LT-LEDS is vital, as each component plays a role in the broader journey toward sustainability. As we engage in meaningful discussions and collaboration, we have the chance to create a powerful network of support that empowers nations to achieve their climate aspirations. Together, we can drive transformative change for a greener future! 💪 🎥Watch the video to learn more about #ALPForum2024 Discussions and role of collaboration and shared learning among countries! #AsiaLEDS2024 #NDCs #ClimateAction #Sustainability #UNFCCC #Collaboration #GlobalGoals #ParisAgreement ICLEI | Global Climate Action Partnership | UN Climate Change | Maryke van Staden | Togo Uchida | Daniele Violetti | Sarah Hertel, Ph.D. | Jennifer Chen | Tatsatom Gonçalves | Benjamin Piu Emani Kumar | Soumya Chaturvedula | Anandhan, Subramaniyam | Divyaprakash Vyas | Avantika Arjuna | Keshav Jha PMP® | Vijay Saini | Prateek Mishra | Sai Siddhartha Nandamuri | Shubh Dhadiwal | Ritwick Boyi | Sasi Madambi | Raghav Kohli | Devishree Kandari | Ila Singh
